I finally figured out the actual capacity of our fresh water tank and I'm really disappointed. I know some people don't care about the capacity of there water tank because they are always hooked up to a water supply in an RV park. Our camping is 95% dry camping in back woods, so this water tank is very important to us. We ran our of water the last two times out and the water gauge has proven to be useless. So I filled the tank to the top and then measure the amount as it drained out the bottom. The specs say our 2021 Sportsman 231RK has 45 gal capacity. That includes the 6 gal in the water heater. SO, the tank should hold 39 gal. NO....it is only a 25 gal tank. I have a copy of the build out sheet for this 5th wheel and on the fresh tank line is listed "Alpha 155333". I assume the tank was supplied by the Alpha water tank company, but I don't find any listed as model 155333. I think the specs for this RV are a form of false advertising. In conclusion, we are stuck with a tank too small for our needs and tank sensors that are useless. We will need to carry extra water containers and figure out a way to transfer water into the little 25 gal tank. Does anyone else have issues with water tank capacity? Any suggestions on water transfer into the tank from another container?

You =should= have a sticker that shows what the weight of a "full load" of water is, as well as propane capacity and net cargo capacity. It's usually yellow. AFAIK, that sticker is required to be exact for the capacity, since it deals with weights. If you read any mfr's brochures, they =all= say that specs are subject to change without notice. There was a guy on here that was in your boat. He was expecting 60 gals capacity and his tank, measured with a meter, only holds 45; 25% less than "advertised". For those that, like him and you, are boondockers more than "hookupers", always check that yellow weight sticker. It is =supposed= to be specific to that exact rig. I know that I checked mine to confirm that my full load of fresh is 60-61 gals. It =will= be a dealbreaker on any future rig I purchase if the sticker doesn't match specs. FWIW, it's my opinion that, when crap like this happens, it's because they simply ran out of the correct size tank and management just said, "Stick in whatever you got that'll fit.", and that's what you end up with. Based on the yellow sticker weight for fresh water on my 2021 D250RES it is bang on with spec sheet. I guess I’m lucky I got the correct tank. I never trust the sensors as from bone dry, the first sensor comes on right away. It shows full way before it overflows when I fill it. If you have the control centre for water with all the valves, your only choice to fill from a container is using the suction hose and the water pump you use to winterize it.

Might want to call KZ and ask who does their math when the spec says 45 w/ the water heater (6 gallons).

Thanks for suggesting I look for the water weight on the yellow sticker. I had to look hard for that yellow sticker, but finally found it on the screen door. It says the weight of a full load of water is 374 lbs. At 8.3 lbs/ gal, that would be 45 gal. This is just a restatement of the same lie because I measured 25 gal in the main water tank and apparently the hot water heater can hold 6 gals. It is 31% less than advertised. So, I'm right back to the same place..... we will have to haul extra water jugs to extend our time in the woods. This is a 2021 which was built in 2020 during the plandemic, and during that time, parts were hard to get. You might be right about them running out of the correct size tank and just sticking in any tank they could make fit. Thanks for the ideas and help.

I would measure the available space and install the largest tank that is practical. They often connect the supply line to the side of the tank where it will stop picking up water when it drops to the top of the hole, thus making a lot of water inaccessible. These trailers are just a heap of raw materials and you need to build them into something that you can actually use.

Going back to your original post, you stated you "filled the tank to the top" i'm guessing you meant till it started running out the overflow tubes? just a thought, but sometimes those overflows could come out somewhere below the top of the tank, thereby limiting how much water you can get in a tank. just another possibility to check out. I believe i've seen posts to that effect, and the poster plugged those holes and installed overflow in the top of the tank.
