We recently purchased a used 2022 sportsman se. Black tank always shows 3/4 full. Has anyone else had this problem? If so what was the fix.

Very common problem, every trailer I've owned has had this problem. Toilet paper or some debris will stick to the sensor. I have heard some put ice in before traveling to or adding a tank cleaner. In my opinion it's not worth the trouble fixing, will just happen again. I just look down toilet to see how close to bottom of drain tube estimate how full it is. After a while you'll be able to tell by the change in sound when you flush if its full.

It is caused by the scum on the tank sides that makes an electrical bridge between the sensors. Those "sensors" are nothing more than bolt heads sticking in the tank walls, there is nothing special about them. Cleaning the tank sides using chemicals or pressure washing may restore the correct readings for a brief amount of time. As above, it may not be worth the trouble trying to make them work. If you drain and flush your tank, then add a fair amount of water and a squirt of dish soap for the trip to the next destination, the tank walls might stay clean enough. I think that most just give it up. Personally, I make an effort to keep it clean, but I made a device to compensate for the average amount of tank scum, it works most of the time.

They use these sensors because they are a are a quick and cheap way to measure the level. They just don't work! It also depends on how they were installed. My fresh water sensors are spaced two close together. Reads full and I can still get anther 15 gallons in the tank before overflow. Not a big problem since we very seldom use the FW tank. A small amount of dish detergent will help, but it really foams up and may stick to the sensors. Laundry detergent and a fabric softener also works and less foaming.

I have an auto sensor on the gray, says "Honey I'm standing in water". The rest are useless.

We bought a camco rv flexible swivel stick with shutoff. Used it once in black tank and our sensors have been reading correctly since

If you're really anal (no pun intended) about these, replace the OEM sensors with an aftermarket system. Hell, I've noticed that my =fresh= tank now isn't correct. Lyle

Also, you can look up the recipe for the "GEO Method" of keeping tanks clean. Basically, you use original Dawn liquid (I think it cuts grease better) and a water softener like Calgon bath powder. Mix it up and put a couple cups in each holding tank to keep them clean.

I have tried with mixed results using Borax. You are supposed to add calgon as well, but I couldn't find it, so I just used the Borax, it worked once, but since then both tanks always read 1/3. When we get home going to install an an aftermarket system.
