Just signed paperwork for a 256RKT. I pick it up in 3 weeks. If anyone has any specific things I should check based on previous experience, I would appreciate it. I have an inspection list but maybe there's something I need to pay special attention to. Unit has auto leveling, off grid solar package, fireplace and 2 a/c's. Thanks.

I bought a D250RES last year. We did the walk around and all seemed good. However my furnace didn’t work properly on our first outing. Turns out the cutouts in the furnace were not removed. Furnace kicked in but didn’t stay on long enough due to lack of air flow. Drove the 3 hours back to dealer and they fixed it while I waited. The other thing that i didn’t pay much attention to was the lack of flow out of kitchen tap. After reading posts on here I took the screen off the tap and removed quite a bit of plastic cuttings from the pipes. Had to take apart basement tap too as it wouldn’t shut off with coil hose on it. So far after a year now it’s been great.

I believe if you look back thru some posts, you'll find a very detailed PDI, pre delivery inspection list. I think it was from Edd 505 here on the forum. It will be a good starting point. Make them run every system and show you how it all works. Good luck Kirt

We took delivery of one May 4. Our dealer was great, let us sit out in their lot hooked to shore power and try everything out. We even had them hook us to water to test it all. Everything was great for appliances, a/c, mechanical. We did identify some interior issues with 4 cabinet doors having minor marks or scuffs, a cabinet side panel with a seam issue and the bottom piece of frame around our kitchen sink window was chipped. They came out, took photos and we're taking it in Friday to have all of those replaced. Since taking delivery we did have 2 of the screw heads in the frame around the outdoor kitchen shear off, not sure why.
I did rely on the PDI lists I found in this forum as well as a couple others. We were also lucky to have a dealer that went through everything with a fine toothed comb. Very happy with our purchase.

As stated print out the PDI list ( kzfamilyforum.com/thread/1903/pdi-list ), its your best friend your PDI inspection should not take lesss that 4 to 5 hours ... turn on everything, twist, pull, ask questions ....
You are going to be excited, your going to be chomping on the bit to get going, slow down, think about what your doing, act as if your camping an go thought the motions pf where dishes are, how doors open, pull on shelfs to see how strong they are, look for light switches, turn them off an on, make sure all lights are on an stay on ...
If the Tech can't answer a question ask for someone that can, don't take i'll get back to you!!! Remember the minute you leave that dealer your on your own, I hate to say it but you can read tons of questions on this form of ( what is this switch for ), (how do you open this or that ), ( where do you find this switch ) on an on, so take pictures, record ... Sit down in the unit for 5 or more minutes an look around, think about what you see, you will be surprised at what you might have missed just sitting there ....
Everyone of us on this form have gone thought what you are about to do, even the old timers have missed things on a PDI but the more you slow down an look the more you will find things you may have missed ... Don't let the RV Tech or salesman do something showing you how, ask to do it yourself two, three or even four times so you feel as if you can do it once your on your own ....
Lastly DO NOT LET THEM RUSH YOU, IT'S YOUR MONEY !!!!!
Chuck

So here's the story. I drove about 1100 miles to inspect/purchase a 256RKT. Did the inspection along with my wife. Found a few small issues but one large one...the Norcold fridge. The fridge did not appear to be cooling. Of course we were told the technician did check it the day before and it just takes a bit of time..yah, yah, yah. Okay, left and went to a nearby park to operationally check the trailer out with the assurrance that if there were any issues, I would bring it back the next day and expected it to be fixed right then. Well, next day we were back with a broken Norcold fridge. To shorten the story, they put us up in a hotel, troubleshot per Norcold and then received permission to remove a fridge from another trailer and install it under warranty. So, overall I was satisfied. Now the drive home. All basically went well, except, 3 valances fell off, 2 from the wall and one attached to the ceiling. None were attached to studs, just the thin siding. So, I need to remount 3 valances. FYI: fridge works fine.

You will need some Steel Molly Bolts to put in the wall. I have had all mine off to install MCD blinds (day/night shades) and fixed them all.

Thanks. I have the 321RKT. We have a similar layout and slides. First, aside from the PDI list, bring a socket tester to make sure that all your outlets are hot when it's not plugged in AND you are using your Lithium battery through the inverter. The red key has to have the battery disconnect connected. They will have the trailer hooked up to shore power. Test things without shore power so that you can boondock reliably. You probably have the water heater instead of tankless so you're ok there. Make sure that they show you how to operate any item you want to know about. Ask them where the drains are for winterizing. My HUGE water tank has a little drizzle, whimpy, drain instead of a large 1-1/2" drain. Find where the low point drains are. Find out where the spare tire lowering bolt is if you have an under-belly spare tire mount. Operate your slides twice each before leaving the lot and make sure that one flap is not smashed while the other is lax. The slides should be adjusted properly. Make sure that the slide side vertical open windows work. The buttons on them fail often and hardly fit the catch into the notches. KZ has to get a different window mechanism for the side slide windows or just make them solid panes. For those with a tankless water heater, make sure that the pump from the on-board tank has enough flow to make the heater kick on. There are flow restrictors in the kitchen and bathroom faucets that are so low that the tankless won't turn on. You'll have to waste water by turning on more faucets to get the heater to turn on to get the hot water all the way into the kitchen. Bad deal when you're boondocking. I don't know if the 256 has auto level. Mine lifts the left rear tire off the ground every time. I don't think that is right. I always thought that the tires were supposed to remain on the ground and not have the jacks holding the entire weight of a quadrant of the trailer. Sorry this message is after you have already picked up your trailer. Joe in Yakima

I have an inspection list but maybe there's something I need to pay special attention to. Unit has auto leveling, off grid solar package, fireplace and 2 a/c's. Thanks. Last week, while camping in freezing weather, I had the opportunity to use our furnace on our 2022 256RKT for the first time. At the 3:00 am I find the furnace is not working and it turns out the regulator (Enerco N17 01 Model 6950) was not flowing propane through one of the hoses. Later, I find that one of the tanks is leaking propane through the safety valve. Now that too will need to be replaced. I’ve tried to reach KZ CS via telephone, left messages and sent emails but no response.

There was a recall on the propane regulator and mine (and yours) isn't effected. I recently camped in cold weather and my issue was good hot heat but low flow from the registers. Heater ran almost continuously and only set at 66ºF. I have since sealed the furnace better and have a bit more airflow. Also have learned to buy a heat blanket and keep the propane tank warm.
