Brother and sister-in-law were driving up to Great Falls from PHX, in her Tahoe. Stopped in Ogden UT after a long day and, because they were dog tired, decided to wait until morning to fuel up. Had about a 1/4 tank showing. Get up the next morning and fire the truck up and the low fuel light is on and brother is WTF? Near as they could figure, someone siphoned out about 7 gals of gas, leaving them with about 2 to get to a gas station. I thought these things were siphon-proof, but he found =several= videos on YT on what to use and how to siphon fuel from a tank, despite the safeties in place. This was in a city-owned parking garage that the Comfort Inn had recommended to them. No working cameras, of course, despite ther being no less than 3 visible from where the truck was parked.
Here in Scottsdale, a local animal rescue outfit had their kennel truck's tank drilled and emptied 2 weeks in a row, which prevented them from going to another rescue place to transfer some animals.

Drilling tanks is becoming more common. Since most fuel tanks are now plastic, not much chance of a spark igniting the fuel. About the same as cat converters being stolen. Battery operated saws make it short work.
