Recently purchased a 2022 E201BH that has the Murphy Bed configuration. First trailer I've had with a Murphy Bed and was looking for folks who have similar configuration. Do you travel with the bed in the up or down position? Anyone reinforced the latches for storing in the up position? Seems like traveling with it in up would be hard on the hinges as well as the latches. Have not found any "definitive" answer. Thanks.

I have the 2020 201 BH -- yes I find it problematic traveling with the bed up and it staying there with the "Traveling Earthquakes" we have when we are on the roads -- I find it makes more sense in more than the one way of better stability for the bed proper -- the other reason - it frees up the space in the forward storage bay - but that is also a double edge sword -- I have found the 201BH to be fairly "Nose Heavy" empty our camper weighs 3450# and by the weight tag the tongue weight is 480# - a whopping 14% of the camper weight -- EMPTY - now they say the GVWR is 4400# -- correct trailering guidance says that there should be 10% of the GVWR on the tongue -- so if you pack anything in that front storage - that tongue weight would skyrockett!!! I have a 2016 Ford Explorer - with a 5K tow linit and 500# hitch max -- i just pulled my camper out of storage, and just the basics of hoses, electric connections, kitchen items, level blocks and such - basic empty is 3680# and my tonge wt is 560# - 60# more than my max!!! I'll tell you, before I got into the proper weight and balamce, I had 750# on my hitch!!! way too much. I REALLY looked at what I put in that storage bay, and started being creative in packing and using the Bunks and shower to pack heavy items to offset the heavy nose -- If you didn't know -- we have a Facebook page for us KZ Escapers!!! It's called the KZ Escape Chat Room - come on over and join us !!! hope this helps -- happy and safe travels!!! I see you are in Parker, CO, I'm down in Colorado Springs, and we have another member here too !! -- Hope to see you soon!

We just bought a new 2021 Connect se 231 2 months ago. Ours has a 1 piece Murphy bed that when closed takes up most of the pass-thru section on the front storage compartment. We travel with our bed open. Our bed has a safety latch on the night stand next to the bed that automatically engages when the bed is opened. The latch keeps it from accidently closing, so I'm not worried about it somehow flipping up and closing in route. My only concern was possible wear on the floor from the front bed supports, so I took some felt chair pads and stuck them to the underside of the footboard where it made contact with the floor. We've only taken on a few short trips so far, but it seems to me that this would relieve the stress you mentioned on the hinges, as well as getting some extra storage while traveling.

stlbluesfan SAID: as well as getting some extra storage while traveling. I just reiterate my comment from above == I have found that the KZ models are extreemly nose heavy -- My 201 BH empty tongue wt is 480#, and my max for my Explorer is 500# -- dosen't give me much to play with when packing. I have to use all the area behind my axel to tow safely -- just be cognizant of that item

If set up correctly you should get very close to the same drop of the front and rear bumpers.
