I am picking up a 270THLE this week. The dry hitch weight on the trailer is 1030 for a trailer that only weighs 5400. My Nissan Armada can pull 8500 with a max hitch weight of 850. So I need to get a few hundred pounds off of the hitch. Since I’m picking it up empty and no Toys right now, I’m trying to figure the best way to get some weight to the rear easily. Does anyone know if there are water or waste tanks aft of the axles, or if this idea is ok? Any thoughts on solutions? Thanks! Attachments:

I have never owned a toy hauler but if it is designed to have the (rear cargo) weight relive some of the (hitch weight) then maybe sand bags would be a fairly cheap temporary solution for the ride home? I pulled a trailer that maxed out at 9,000 lbs. with an Armada for several years. The Armada is a beast but I didn't like pulling at maximum capacity! I strongly recommend tire upgrades on the Armada and of course a good weight distribution with sway control hitch.

Thanks! I ended up buying 8 small bags of pea gravel at Lowes. 50 pounds each. $3.50 a bag. I put them in sand bags in case they leaked. Piled them at the back and got a couple of hundred pounds off the hitch. Then used a weigh safe weight distribution anti sway bar. Works great. Won’t need the extra weight hauling toys, but it’s balanced for now.
