Hello everyone! We recently traded in our Connect SE 210MBKSE for the Connect 24IRL to gain a private bedroom and a little more floor space. We will be taking it out for it's first trip in March and can't wait! I have a question about back up cameras. What does everyone use and what should we look for when shopping for one? Thanks in advance!

We had the dealer install a camera since our C261RB had the prewired camera mount already. They installed a Furrion system. It's wireless to the display in the truck. You have to have the running lights ON on the trailer to power the camera, which isn't a bad thing. Works fine for us.

Our Durango 5th was pre-wired for the Furrion so I just ordered or a Furrion camera off Amazon. Haven’t used it much for backing up into sites but use it to back up to hitch up the boat. I also have it on to watch the boat while towing. I bought the basic 4.5” screen.

Like others my Durango came wired for the Furrion system. I bought the camera and basic 4.5 inch monitor and added them at the dealership when we picked up the trailer. Initially, the video would stream, then freeze, then blue screen. It would do this continually. I finally decided it was a power issue and removed the stereo type jack with which it connects, and spliced the wires directly. It has worked perfectly since, the only drawback being it cannot easily be removed. I don’t need it removed anyway so it’s a non-issue for me. As others have said, it is powered from your center clearance light so the lights must be on.

I don't want to offend anyone but why a backup camera? It seems to be the latest "fad". I drove a big rig for years and have had campers since early 80's. You have a wife or older kids, way better than a camera, have them get out and help you back. Large hand signals, two way radios, phones any way to communicate which way you need to go. Using hand signals they have to be able to see you in your mirror or you won't see the signal. Happy camping in your new RV.

My wife is usually at work when I hook it up. I rarely use my wife to guide me at a site. I always try to backup into a site with site on my left. I know the width of site and my camper so if I clear the left side, I’m good. I only need her to tell me how far back I can go.

It's pretty useless for a backup camera with the screen being so small.

Backing up I use the side view mirrors an watch the track the tires are taking. The camera is only used to make sure I don't back up too far and bump something. I really works well when you are changing lanes on the interstate. If the car you see in the side view is also in the backup camera, you have room. How much room you have shows up in the back up camera better then the side view most times.
