We had a blowout on the highway and need to replace a tire. The tires on my Durango are 235/80R16 with load rating G. So far I haven’t located a tire shop that has any. Any ideas on make/model or vendors would be much appreciated!

Try discount tire or Big-O. I had a flat first of the year in a small NM town. Big-O had them in stock, I bought 5 as the LT tire were getting to the point they needed replaced. I bought Sailun's at just under $200ea, if you go that way some are on recall but the dealers have been told to check supplies and pull the one's on recall. Hankook make's a good G rated, not cheap I would call any large tire dealer, not sure where your located or whats around you.

Pretty much what Edd said, Discount, Big O or even Les Schwab. I did a quick search around here (Nor NV) and what seems to be the issue is the higher load range (G). Hopefully you are near a larger metro area, good luck in you search.

Thanks to all for the feedback. We're in the Gainesville, FL area for 10 days so I'll be trying to find one here.

Were it me, I think I'd buy a pair of tires, so you at least have a matched set on the same axle. Buy another cheap steel rim to mount the other tire on as an extra spare. I did this with my first FW. If you do, be =sure= to check the offset on the rim. Almost all FWs use zero offset rims; not using one can destroy your bearings and/or spindle.

All - Discount tire here in Gainesville came through with Carlisle CSL 16 ST235/80R16 G/14PR tires in one day. Now that I've learned about the specialized nature of these tires I bought 2 and had one mounted. I'm stashing the 2nd one in the storage compartment for that "rainy day".
Thanks to all for your inputs - this is a great forum!

Merry Christmas, here's two tires!! Glad to hear Discount filled the need. I have always had good luck with them. I would have had both new tires installed and kept the one "take off" as a spare rather than have a new tire sitting and aging. Yes, I am one of those guys who carries two spares. One mounted, the other unmounted, a "take off" in the bed of the truck.

I'm with you the two new down and the take off as a spare.

We ended up with a second tire failure on this trip. So I’m replacing all four tires, plus the spare, and adding a 2nd spare wheel and tire. This will give us a bit more peace of mind now that we know the specialized nature of these tires. Hoping the Carlisle tires hold up for us.

Well I stopped at the Big-O I bough the tires from, all 5 on recall, I left with 5 new and all I lost was about an hours time. Makes a good customer when you have zero issues like this. Happy camper.

I have run Carlisle tires on 2 previous 5ers and they’ve been good. I also currently have them on a cargo trailer. Sure haven’t had any issues with them and they’re pretty reasonably priced as well.

Jay I, too, ran a couple sets of Carlisles on my old Komfort. First set did give up the ghost, but after almost 5 years. Second set was better, and was going into their 6th year, and still had minimal weather checking, when we sold the rig. I did tell the new owners that they'd really want to think about putting a new set on before taking a trip longer than the 50 miles home. :-) Lyle

Carlisle had a run of lousy tires around 18 (+/-) or so years ago, had to replace lots of tires and pay for damaged coaches. But they seemed to have fixed their issues.
