I just received the letter yesterday. The regulator is the Winntec 6020 Two Stage. Units that were manufactured with propane regulators by Chen Fong with date codes N17 xx, N18 xx, N19 xx, N20 xx and N21 xx By the way if you are trying to buy one so you don't have to haul yourself in to a shop good luck. The self switching regulators are few and far between. rvbusiness.com/nhtsa-issues-its-latest-lengthy-weekly-list-of-rv-recalls/ ------- Good luck. Seems KZ removed the date code for the N17 on most, if not all models. I have conflicting recall reports from KZ. One shows the N 17 and the second starts with the N 18. You can search for 21v-426, shows all of the date codes. Then search 21v-670 eliminates the N 17 date code. There are a lot of other manufactures that still show the N 17 date code. Only KZ has dropped it. Also the recall notice from KZ says they will replace the regulator. The person i spoke with at KZ told me it is not their responsibility and it's up to the dealer to find and replace it and file a claim with KZ. She also told me that IF I could find a regulator, KZ would reimburse me. for the part and pigtails. Then changed the story again. Too bad no one from KZ corporate reads this site.

And apparently they don't really care to hear about their mistakes and lack of assistance. The technical service person I was communicating with basically told me what I was reading from the NHTSA was wrong, even though the information was submitted to them by KZ.
All other manufacturers are still recalling the N17 date code regulator. She told me what other companies are doing have nothing to do with KZ!

KZ Winntec 6020 recall documents:
I have seen all of those. According to NHTSA my 2018 Sportmen was originally shown shown listed in the 21V-426 report. The all of a sudden it was not listed. Now the "newer" report 21V-600 no longer lists the date code N17 KZ said they made a mistake and even though mine listed the correct date code, N17, it did not include my year and model per the build date.
Seems KZ is changing things to their advantage. None of the other manufacturers using this regulator have removed the N17 date code.
I contacted NHTSA and they are investigating why KZ changed the recall. KZ is going to save a lot of money on replacements!! PS: KZ will no longer respond to my emails.

I watch the link and see how this goes, keep us posted. Will do. One other thing. My dealer has also tried getting a straight answer from KZ and has gotten a run around. KZ is expecting them to find regulators and file a claim with KZ for the cost. If you read the letter from KZ it specifically states that they are working with suppliers to locate and source parts. They are not keeping the dealers in the loop. I had asked KZ if the parts are not available, what are they using to build new trailers. She told me that they they could get regulators for new trailers, but not replacements.I wanted someone from KZ corporate to contact me and was told it couldn't be done.

Hi all checked my 2018 Durango an I have the regulator on it. No recall notice here yet. Called dealer this morning an they said yep your in it they are ordering one for me said it would be maybe 2-3 months to get. But guess it's like my pickup airbag recall it's a 2011 an still haven't gotten the notice that they have them yet.gee wonder if they figure longer they wait. The less they will have to replace an pay for. In meantime I'm sure they are really worried about our safety.......

I would like to thank the forum people for bringing this recall to my attention because I would not have know about it otherwise. My 2021 Sportsmen 5th wheel had the recalled regulator. I called KZ and expected a big runaround, but was pleasantly surprised to get good service. Crystal explained to me I could either take it to a dealer for replacement or order a different one and do the job myself and they would pay for the replacement cost. I knew it would be far easier for me to swap out the regulator and pigtail hoses than for me to drag it back to the dealer. She give me a list of regulator brands that should not be used for replacement.
I didn't want anything made in China, so my choices were not great. A Camco regulator was available, but made in China. I found a regulator made by Cavagna Kosan that was not made in China and received it from Amazon in few days. I sent a picture of the new regulator/pigtail hoses and the invoices to Crystal. She said all is good and the check will be in the mail. This was easier than I expected. Now, I'm just waiting for the check, while thinking about how "the check is in the mail" is one of the three great lies, but we will see.
Thanks again for the information on this recall.

I also have the recall notice. Is this the regulator that is just above the tanks? If so, it should be a simple replacement. If that is the regulator that is being recalled I will also attempt to contact KZ, get a list of acceptable parts, and order and install it myself. I am almost 2 hours from the nearest dealer. BTW- did any of you have the recall for the leaking skylight? I looked at mine and have no cracks so I have not taken it to the dealer for the same reason - distance to drive. I was told by the dealer that, if I needed a replacement, they would have to order one, wait on it (?) and then make another trip to pick up the trailer. Some time it sucks to live 100 + miles from a dealer. Makes me wish I had bought another brand locally.

I received the check from KZ today. Based on this one interaction with KZ customer service,I have a positive opinion of their customer service. I still have a negative opinion of their construction craftsmanship, but maybe all RV constructed in the 2021 covid year were thrown together by inexperienced workers.

Geez Greydog, really sorry to hear about that. Glad everyone escaped safely though. Stuff can be replaced; people cannot!
I also received the recall but my letter stated that the parts are currently unavailable and that I will be notified when they become available. I guess we’ll see.

I received a call from my dealer. They had been waiting 5 months for word from KZ. Kz finally supplied them with a list of recalled trailers and owners. The dealer told me that even though my trailer is a 2018 and the regulator is in the date code range, they didn't list mine. They are going back after KZ with pictures I took of my regulator, same ones I sent to KZ. Seems I am not alone. Dealer has multiple inquiries about why KZ is replacing the affected regulators on some, but not others even though the date code is valid. I did get lucky and found a regulator made in the U.S.A. Paid close to $100 just for the regulator. Now my dealer is going after KZ to reimburse me. We'll se what happens. Close to 50 calls and emails to KZ went nowhere and the finally stopped replying to my emails. I hope someone from KZ see this and has the common courtesy to respond!

I received the letter on the recall back in October of 2021. Haven’t heard anything else from KZ nor the dealership. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first recall we’ve hade on this model camper.

When I first called she told me that mine was in the recall range. After calling my dealer, they told me that KZ was responsible for replacing the regulator. After about 6 more emails back and forth to Crystal, and 2 more phone calls, she told me she made a mistake and even though mine had the N17 date code it was NOT on the list. She told me she could do nothing more for me. I called my dealer and they told me that KZ would not contact them either.

I was told that "I had to" take mine to the dealer to replace the regulator or the recall would not be "legally completed" and my insurance could refuse payment in the event of an issue. I also received the skylight recall way back in December 2019 and they would only replace one of two because one of them didn't show any signs of cracking? I have had them inspected several times since then and all was okay until last week when I opened up the 5ver to check as I always do after winter storage. And of course the one that they hadn't replaced was now leaking! I'll spare you the back and forth details with the dealer. In the mean time I used (Flex Seal) 4" wide clear tape as a temporary repair until the dealer can schedule me into replace it. I had to use Flex Seal because it can be applied in not so perfect weather conditions and the high temp that day was 39*F with another storm coming in. I would have used Eternabond but it has to be at least 60*F for it to work.

I called a dealer and they told me it would be several months to get in for the repair. I called KZ directly, gave them my VIN and some photos of the date code on my regulator. They quickly shipped me a replacement regulator and I did the replacement myself. Easy job and I’m nowhere close to a pro. If you’re still waiting, consider the self-service route. (My post shows me as a “Newbie RVer. I’m new to KZ, but been camping in a TT or pop-up for close to 20 years.)
