We are stranded at our daughters because for some reason we lost the trailer brakes. Husband had the truck checked out, and it's not the truck, had a "mobile rv repair" guy come out, who said it was the plug, but didnt have one to replace it so hubby got one online and replaced it. 350 dollars later we still have no brakes. We dont want to pull it anywhere do to no brakes!! Any suggestions?

Battery? If you pull out the emergency brake cable, do you hear the electric brakes kick on? You should hear the hum of the magnet activating the brakes.

First call your mobile repair guy back and insist on a refund or a second opinion at no additional cost to you! Sorry to hear your brakes aren't working, that's a worry for anyone. See this link below, I hope it helps! www.etrailer.com/question-99620.html

we pulled the emergency pin and the wheels locked up, we also plugged the camper into our son in laws truck and his truck had the same check trailer brake warning. So this tells me its in the camper somewhere, correct? The new plug my husband put on works everything but the brakes. The guy who looked at it is going to try to come out again today, I hope he doesnt want another 200 to tell us what he thinks is the problem, I mean if you call an rv mobile repair person, you would expect them to repair the issue. Thank-you for your input, it's very much appreciated. I will try to post any updates on this issue.

We had the same problem with our 2018 Kz Connect, we tried our sons truck and it still didn’t work, he is electrician and he checked the wires in a junction box on the tongue, he took the cover off and there were several wires not connected. And that fixed our problem.

Did your hubby just replace the plug on the end of the pigtail? If so, he or the mobile guy needs to get into the junction box where the cord is attached to the trailer wiring and start diagnosing from there. Also the mobile guy needs to not charge you for this second round of guessing games. This is perhaps the simplest circuit in your coach, so if the brakes work with the breakaway pin pulled it's a safe bet the wiring from the breakaway switch back to the brakes is good.

A big THANKS to Williams mobile rv repair out of Nashville!!! After giving 260 dollars to a jackass repair guy from b and b mobile rv repair, who was wrong about everything, we had William take a look. He pulled up in his truck, and walked over to the wheels on the camper, found the problem in 5 minutes, fixed it in 45 minutes!!!!! And he only charged us 175!!!! I know zero about mechanical stuff, but the break line running through the axle was worn and was shorting out the breaks. He pulled it out and replaced it with stronger wire. Not sure if I explained it properly, but William got us back up and running!!!!!!!!!!!

What Soleman said! Also, I know these guys aren't dealers, but you might want to post the mobile RV service guys under the Good & Bad Dealers thread.

Run a new wire outside along the axle and done.

Interesting that it didn't cause the breaker to cycle when the breakaway pin was pulled, but I have seen the tow vehicle brake control show a trailer wiring fault before the owner notices any issue.
