Yesterday my 15 month old (out of warranty) fireplace/heater died. Smelt some smoke and the heater died. I'm guessing the blower fan failed and the heat sensor shut the unit off. I'm guessing that because the glass face plate was hot near the heater element. Is this worth fixing? Any body else had this happen? The model number is FF30SW15A-BL/FF30SP15A-BL and is in a two year old Connect 261RL. Thanks in advance for your comments.

A quick Google search of the model turned up lots of possible replacements ranging from $155 - $241. Apparently Furrion made this unit, so you might be able to get a motor. It depends on your willingness to fool around with it.

Furrion said there are no consumer replaceable parts in the fireplace. Its out of warranty so that is it as far as they are concerned. KZ will sell my dealer a replacement unit for north of $500.00. They aren't in the retail fireplace business and only carry them for build outs. So, if I want a replacement unit it is up to me to source and purchase and install it.

Well that's lousy, no customer replaceable parts? What a waste. I would still try finding a replacement motor at an appliance parts place.

I'd agree. If you're at all handy, it's worth tearing it apart and finding out what's inside. It seems highly unlikely that they would use a non-standard motor in something like this. Ten bucks says if you pull out the parts, a good appliance guy would be able to sort it out for you. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Here is the update on the heater. KZ provided a new heater unit. While the one year manufacture warranty had expired, the two year KZ warranty was still in effect and they stepped right up and took care of the issue. And as a bonus, the new unit has the ability to set the temp from 65 to 90 degrees in 5 degree increments. The old unit was only low and high heat settings. And as a double bonus, I now have a new one year warranty on the heater, which will give me about seven months after the KZ warranty expires.
The dealer, East Side RV, and KZ got this taken care of in a very satisfactory manner.

Great news! I bought mine from Eastside RV, and so far, they have been great to deal with. I like working with a small, family-run dealer like that.
