My 333RIK roof is coming apart at the gutters edge. Seems the staples that were used to secure the plywood to the roof framing are coming loose. Noticed this past summer, from a ladder I can push down on a panel, then you can see the staples push up against the roofing material. Almost all the way around the unit. Not lifted at the front end cap area, but is lifting a little at the rear and sides of the camper. The staples are not the correct item to use as far as I am concerned, should have used screws. Contacted KZ about the problem, received a reply from Bill Woodcock of customer service via E-mail. He says after researching my camper model and VIN#, he has no record of this concern from other campers.. His note was, possible water intrusion has caused swelling and lifting the panels.
I feel its from using inferior techniques, design and materials namely, the STAPLES on a Barrel roof structure. I see NO water intrusion area's, interior or exterior. A side bar: more than several (of the hundreds used to secure panels Etc. on the exterior) of the Square drive/phillip's head type screws used, the heads have broken off. Probably made in China from recycled steel!! Yes I have been on the roof on occasion, A/C service, adding MaxxAir vent covers and cleaning. Try to walk on roofing cross members, but they are 4' apart !!!! Utilize heavy "moving" blankets, thin plywood when doing A/C service. Anyone out there seen or heard a similar problem?

A photo would help us understand the problem. Did you pull off the gutter to see if water is getting in at those screws? Water can wick in from the sides and rust off screws and staples.

I will try to get pictures on this post. Never thought about water wicking through the gutter screws. I have noticed through the years the gutter screws do loosen up. So every spring I have gone from one end to the other w/ a 1/4" drive wrench and socket to snug them up. With none of them I can remember as being "stripped". There does seem to be a black sealant behind the screws. Have not removed a section of gutter yet to check.

Here is a thread I created a few years ago, it is about the gutter over a slide, but it shows the lack of sealing caused by sloppy workmanship. Click on the word "Here", they still insist on having the links the same color as the text.

Lynnmor, thanks for the reply, but the word you created I can not link to the word "Here". another note about my camper. Since I have owned it (March of 17'), there has always been screws backing out all over the exterior and interior. Keeping in mind towing them down the road beats them up, being a wood frame attached to a steel frame. Never mind, your link works now, Thanks

Keeping in mind towing them down the road beats them up, being a wood frame attached to a steel frame. If you can get past the current roof condition, you might want to add some suspension upgrades like Dexter EZ-Flex and shock absorbers. Keep the speed down on rough roads, don't beat up your things to please the speed demons.

During the summer of 2020, I ditched the Lippert suspension equalizers for a set of MORryde CRE3000, added there heavy duty shackle bushing and wet bolt kit. The nylon bushings in the leaf springs from the OEM were toast!! Also added a MORryde X-Factor crossmember. Plus in 2019 I swapped out the "China Bomb" tires for Goodyear Endurance tires. W/ 5K plus miles on them, still look and ride well. While my wife and I worked camped last summer, I did notice more RV's showing up w/ Goodyear Endurance tires on them as OEM after I escorted them to there site.
