Has anyone else attended a class at the National RV Training Academy? I recently went through the first of as many as 7 weeks of training at the academy and was very impressed with the material covered. Trying to do them in somewhat a stair step order ( but can do most in any order). So far I’ve gotten through becoming a registered RV tech. Includes a class on knowledgeable RV owner and then extra testing for the registered tech classification. Next for me will most likely be a two week course on RV inspection. Seems to be quite a calling for this as well as repair. Then week long classes on specific appliances. Just feel like it’s a good thing to go through to know what’s going on in my rig and to help diagnose and repair others rigs as well

Good idea to get some training, sounds like time well spent. I wish more manufacturers offered training, as depending on dealers is a formula for disaster.

In my class there were three guys from Dometic training also. Dometic is going to start a pilot program in busier areas having a two or three person team to repair their products. I think they are starting off with the Orlando area. (NRVTA contracted to train all their techs) One factory tech from Vanleigh too. And a visit from a Lippert Tech for a short sit in.

As far as I'm concerned, every LCI tech should attend these courses. They might actually learn how to do stuff correctly. (/cynical mode) Lyle

Going back late next month for some more training! Hydraulics leveling and exteriors. Nothing wrong with that, once you learn the basic theory you can figure out most any system as there are only so many ways to move oil around and make it do your bidding. It will be interesting to hear what they cover regarding exteriors.

It will be interesting to hear what they cover regarding exteriors. I ended up staying for a couple more weeks after the exteriors. Generators and then water heaters and furnaces. The guy on charge of the exteriors covered many basic items in regards to removing and repairing slides, shwintec slide systems, adjusting in floor slide and electric and hydraulic leveling. As well as awnings and lots of trouble shooting. It was eventful for sure. I started a mobile rv repair business to do when I have spare time. Been interesting so far

I bet it's been interesting, sounds like a good course. It's really hard to beat factory training, all kinds of little tricks can be learned.
