Made the trip to the rally, 700 miles, arrived with 2 shelves broken where they connect to the insideside of the fridg, a lot of bounce with a fridg in the rear of a 43 ft 5th wheel. also no water of ice again, water and ice worked when connectd at home. and yes, water is on, nothing changed between disconnecting from home to going camping, in contact with KZ both at the rally and online to see how this will be taken care of

contacted KZ about the shelves and they referred me to send pics and what happened to the refridgerator shelves to my dealership to put in a formal service warranty request, The residential refridgerator is located totally in the rear of the 391 so thats where all the bounce is, the plastic shelves have small places where it fits onto a metal peg/post, on the way to the rally, it appears that the top shelf broke where the part that holds onto the post and fell onto the shelf below and broke it in the same place. Anyway, will keep everyone posted on the outcome... remember this is a residential refridgerator.

another comment, through talking to KZ and afew others, are we not supposed to carry anything in a residential refridgerator when traveling? You might want to call GE support and also read the owners manual. I think you will find that the refrigerator was never intended to bounce down the road.

We had a similar experience with our 2021 391RKQ. After a very abrupt stop to avoid a collision, we found two of the door bins on the refrigerator were broken. We learned a lesson on loading the refrigerator for travel.
As we are newbies I chalked it up to operator error, bit the bullet and bought replacement parts myself. And BTW they are absurdly expensive.

And BTW they are absurdly expensive. the two shelves are approx $100 each, we also have the 2021 391, my thoughts are that its the incorrect refridgerator to be in the rear of a 5th wheel this long. There were probably no testing on plastic shelving in these. nothing heavy was on the shelves but you should be able to travel with food in the refridgerator, if not they why would an inverter be in the unit to run the refridgerator when not connected to shore power? And as always a claim like this will take months, thats part of why I'm putting this post up is to see what is done. Remember we have a 2 year warranty, a warranty not only with GE but with KZ also... KZ .has always taken care of me even when the dealer has not. I have talked directly to KZ and they asked me to go thru the dealership first to see what can be done,,,

If KZ is like most other mfrs, the 2 year warranty covers the RV chassis only. No appliances are covered; you have to use the specific mfr warranty, most times. Lyle

Dealer is pitting in claims about refridgerator shelves,,, I thought this had a 2 year warranty for everything? after 2 KZ Gold fifth wheels, could this be my last? On your two year warranty the vender of the appliance is on the hook for the 1st year, Kz is reasonable for the second year, sometimes it's quicker to call the vender of the appliance than the dealer or Kz ... Point in case, our furnace went out a month after we had the trailer, called dealer, they stated 3 months to get trailer in an then wait on parts ... I called Kz customer service they told me to call the MFG of the furnace an even gave me the number .... We call suburban who made the furnace, they sent me to a RV dealer which was a Suburban
service center down the road from us an the furnace was repaired in a week ...
I do not know why the Kz service advisor/writer at the Kz rally didn't tell you this Hummmm ...
Safe Travels

Travel with an empty fridge, never, but I don't have the residential. The fridge is always on even at the house, it's the over flow from home. We joke it's our mobile pantry.

It came up when several of us were talking and I commented that if I was to trade unit (not going to happen ... ) I would get the rear kitchen as we loved the floorpan and that amazing sliding pantry drawer. That's when your situation with the fridge shelves came up. I don't know what your personal situation was, but when we travel nothing heavy is on any shelf (including the refrigerator). Appliances, canned goods, drinks, etc are all stored as low as possible to prevent this sort of thing from happening. We learned this thru experience, which was never pleasant. Glad to hear that you got your situation resolved.

KZ and GE took care of the problem. and I think they well be putting something together as far as letting people not to really carry much in teh residential refridgerators, escpecially if they are located in the rear of a camper. we will from now on travel lighter in the fridg and bring heaver items in a cooler, Damn, wish I had won one at KZ, but lesson learned and I hope others will lear from this. I did make up some extra bracing for thise 2 shelves that takes the pressure off the pins that hold the shelving up,, nothing fancy but not taking any chances on 700 to 1500 mile trips one way, using the cooler will only take 5 minuetw if that to load and unload before traveling, we will load as normal and before we hit the road we'll take some out of refridgerator and move to cooler while traveling,,,, Great job KZ and GE

How useless is a fridge (or pantry/cabinet) that you have to =unload= before moving? Sort of defeats the whole purpose, IMO. I our case, it's the pantry shelves, which just sit on the little adjustment clips, with nothing to keep them from bouncing. LOVED getting to a campsite early on and all the shelves fell down onto the chips in the bottom (for easy kid access, we thought) and we had nothing but crumbs. G*d forbid that they even offer the option of slide out pantry shelves. Stupid, stupid designers who have never camped in their lives and have zero clue as to how to make stuff for real-world use. Again, IMO, everyone who's hired to work at an RV mfr, should have to live in an RV during their first year, and this includes hitching it up, siting it, unhitching, then moving again, preferably on a monthly basis. Bet you'd see some changes...NAH, the bean counters would deep 6 anything meaningful...

Lyle We don't "unload" our residential refrigerator, we just move heavy stuff to the bottom shelf and/or crisper drawers. As for the pantry and other suspended shelves ... they all have been braced so they will not fall, so we don't worry about rearranging anything on moving day. This bracing includes the rod in the bedroom clothes closet. Those will never fall again.

This bracing includes the rod in the bedroom clothes closet. Those will never fall again. Again, why should the =user= have to do stuff like this when simple design changes could prevent it. My old Komfort, for example, had a small wood piece that hinged down over the hangar rod to keep hangars from falling off. F'n simple, cheap and keeps the wives happy! In our pantry, whey can't they at least use use clips that have a retainer over the shelf that keeps the shelves from being able to be moved without pushing the retainer back? I've had several bookshelf kits that have these, and they worked well. It's the little stuff like this that's =more= frustrating, to me anyway, than the big stuff. Lyle
