Hi there the fireplace in our bedroom keeps shutting down and smells like burning plastic, this is a 2020 Gold unit is there something on the fireplace I can check if it’s blocked?

I don't know much about your particular unit but I know some of the 30 amp trailers have a switch in them that does not allow the microwave and the fireplace to run at the same time. Is it possible that the 50 amp units have something similar? Not sure about the burning plastic though.

I would suspect the burning plastic smell is something inside the fireplace getting hot that shouldn’t be. We’ve never smelled anything like that with ours even when it was brand new. I would definitely take it out and inspect it more closely. As for the fireplace/microwave switch, ours works on 50a and has nothing like that. We use the fireplace and microwave at the same time a lot. But, ours is not a Gold and has only one fireplace.

Is the fan running in the fireplace? If not it may be overheating and the overtemp sensor is shutting it off

Jay Could also be the 'stat for the heating element is bad and isn't shutting it off at the setting, so the over-temp switch kicks in. Smell could just be the "new" burning off due to the extra high temps, but I'd agree with gwinger and check the fan, first. Lyle

All great suggestions I’ll pull it out and have a look, and listen for the fan as well.
