I don't think that is a common occurrence. How did yours get bent like that?

There’s a couple of posts regarding bent tongues on newer KZ Escapes. Either poor design and/or overloading. I have yet to see a bent tongue on a camper. I’ve seen many boat trailer tongues bent!

Wow, I hadn't heard of the problem. Seems to me that it just needs some welded steel to reinforce it once it is bent back to normal shape. That being said, it isn't really surprising the way they try to cut every single little corner they can on economy RV trailers any more.

They don't necessarily do it to cut corners, they do it to keep things light, so smaller vehicles can pull them. The problem arises when the consumer forgets they bought a lightweight trailer, overloads it, then bounces down a Forest Service road. The margin of error is very low. All of the bent trailer tongues I have seen have been on lightweight trailers, all sorts of manufactures. From the smallest teardrop type to small (23') toy haulers.

Hello all -- yep this is a problem being seen --- there is a member on another FB posting -- he has a 19 Hatch less than 6 mo old - and first trip out going down the highway -- Boom bent tongue He contacted KZ and Lippert - who agreeed to repair the defect -- had a Lippert Road tech come out and reweld new tongue on -- he gave another possibility -- damage was done during Rig transport -- he said he has seen a LOT of this type of damage

YES YES YES - My 2021 KZ sportsmen classic 181BH has a bent tongue. Noticed it after first trip. Bent upward 2-3" from being level with the rest of the frame. Bent so much that the battery almost touches the front camper wall diamond plate when weight was on the ball or tongue jack. When weight put on the front stabilizing jacks, there is 1" of room between the battery and front wall of the camper diamond plate.
The frame is very weak on that unit, especially the tongue. Look how small the frame members are, most pop-up campers have larger tongue frame rails.
I just traded that piece of junk in on a new Jayco with a big, heavy frame. The 2021 KZ sportsmen classic 181BH is a low quality piece of garbage in my opinion. Owned it for two month and could not stand the entire set-up - WEAK and cheap.
