Last summer I noticed that the basement of my trailer was wet. Less than a gallon of water in total but still a mess with having to pull everything out and dry it up. I tracked it down to the filter cap being loose on my water pump with a steady drip. Easy enough to fix but I didn't want to have another occurrance or mess to clean up again. I ended up installing THE BASEMENT WATCHDOG Model BWD-HWA 110 dB Battery Operated Water Alarm . I placed the sensor right under the filter cap so if I ever do get another leak I'll know about it right away. To make the sensor more sensitive I cut a piece of paper towel the same size as the sensor and put that under the sensor and then taped the sensor down to the floor. This way the paper towel will absorb any small leak right away and set off the alarm. The box is mounted on the inside of the basement wall and attached using Command Strips. I love these things since they're reusable and easy to attach. In the fall I just remove the box and pull out the 9 volt battery before storing the trailer for the winter.

That's a great idea, on our way home from the dealer (a shakedown trip heading home) we found a leak at the water heater-luckily we only had a few things in the basement, but it was still a pain.
