So here's an update to the deck weatherproofing we did. Flex seal worked well. We camped last summer in the mountains, rain about half the time. We never did raise the deck, and as far as we can tell, absolutely no water intrusion. And the water swept right off afterward. Absolutely love it!

Dealer said nothing about weather proofing the deck! Is that something I’ll need to do on our 382mbq? Don’t get much rain here in Sacramento valley but definitely want to avoid water damage.

Sorry to ressurect this older thread, but we're pretty set on the 382MBQ, so this is pertinent to us.
Is this necessary? I watched a video on Forest River's XLR Hyperlite 3412 and the presenter did mention that ramp/patio surface delamination was an issue with "other manufacturers".
I'd prefer not to have to do this if it's not necessary, but, as we plan to fulltime in this, and a lot of that boondocking, I can see this being a potential issue.

Hi! This would be a good question for the factory, but other mfgs out there that did say anything about ramps and rain, the consensus was to close it when it rains. We shopped long and hard for a trailer before we bought our 382MBQ, and our original choice was a toy hauler. I didn't find a mfg that said the deck was water resistant, so I would say it is probably necessary.

That doesn't surprise me. Most dealers we talked to didn't mention it either, I had to ask. We didn't buy our 382MBQ from a dealer, but based on the reactions of other toy hauler dealers, we did this as a precaution. We were betting if toy hauler decks weren't water tight, this one probably wasn't either. |
