I have a 2011 KZ Sportsman Classic 19BH that I bought new in November 2012. My family and I really liked the camper and felt it was more practical for us than the Fleetwood we had prior to it. The downside is the problems we have encountered. The first problem was with the front awning bracket. As we were retracting the awning the lower front bracket ripped out of the side of the camper causing it to disconnect completely from the side and tore some of the aluminum siding. Later I discovered a water under one of the dinette benches and between the bench and the front bed (the opposite side from where the awning bracket came out). I had water damage (warping) on the back of the bench, discoloration, and mold. It had also soaked the box of a new stereo I had planned on installing. I cleaned up the area and was unable to find the source of the water. That night we had more rain and when I checked it in the morning the floor was again wet with a significant amount of water.
I then contacted the dealership I purchased it from who then advised me to take it to a different dealer closer to my residence. I dropped the camper off on August 7th and waited until approximately 12:30 on August 15th to check in with the dealer since I hadn't heard anything. They politely advised me they would check on it's status and call me back that day. I followed up with them ten minutes before their service department closed that day and they assured me they would call me back that day. On Friday afternoon (3:43) I was abruptly told they hadn't got to it yet and wouldn't until at least the following week.
My concern is the leak was in the wall and has caused mold inside the wall just like it has in the areas I can see. I have read posts about how good KZ's customer service is, unfortunately I haven't got to experience that yet. If anyone has any words of advise I am definitely open to it.
Thanks.

I had a car dealer treat me this way...ONCE!!! The problem is that the dealer providing the service does not think he "owes" you anything because you did not buy it from them. Call the service department where you bought the trailer and report the local dealer. You may also want to call KZ directly. ALL dealers sign service agreements, promising to due warrant work, no matter where it was purchased. Too many complains could lead a dealer to lose their license.
As for the mold: Does not sound as if you can trust this dealer to make sure the mold is not contained within the walls. I know there are some home mold kits available, as well as numerous "mold testing" companies that can check the moisture content (mold) within wall cavities. Maybe an investment in one of these will help you sleep better at night.
If mold is found (because this dealer did not eliminate it) refer to paragraph one!!!

I have now been in contact with KZ directly after no one at the dealership would talk to me about my trailer. The KZ representatives were friendly and professional. They advised the trailer was under warranty even though the original dealer sold me a "new" trailer that I later found out from the state it had already been registered to someone else.
Yesterday I finally received a call from the service department. They stated my trailer was ready for pickup but when asking what they found the conversation was fairly vague. He advised they resealed the window and fixed an awning bracket. When I asked about where the leak was at and the condition of the wall since there was no water on the outside of the wall he said nothing was written down about that and they only write down what they work on. I then asked if they fixed the dinette bench with the water damage and again was told it wasn't written down and he would have to check (I still haven't heard back from him).
I then re-contacted KZ who was again friendly and professional. I again explained my concern about mold being in the wall since I already found mold were the water ended up. She suggested that the water may have come from the window and drained down the side of the wall and therefore would not be inside the wall. I then explained the largest amount of water was located underneath one of the benches which is a storage area that is closed in on all sides, the top board and cushion were completely dry with no signs of moisture, and the outside of the wall was completely dry with no signs of moisture.
I have no contacted an independent mold inspection company who forwarded their inspection quote to KZ. I will have to pay out of pocket to get the inspection and will eat that cost if it comes back ok. However, if it comes back with an elevated mold content then KZ will discuss that with me at that time. So for now it looks like my family will miss out on camping for the upcoming holiday weekend.
I'll continue to post until it is resolved.
Thanks

Last week I also asked about if they had repaired the water damage to the dinette bench. Today, after not receiving a response, I called back. They advised there was no "damage", only "discoloration". I would have thought a permanent change to the appearance such as discoloration would have been "damage". Either way they advised they were done and it was ready to be picked up.

Was the leaking resolved? I have a persistent leak that we have been unable to track down. The unit is going back to the dealer for the third time next week. Has passed all previous leak tests. Hoping this time they can pin it down and fix it. Still under warranty til April.

My issue still has not been resolved and I have been without my unit since the start of August. As it turns out there was a recall on the windows that had not been addressed. I have been advised the windows have been replaced but have been waiting months for KZ to schedule the mold test. I have now been in contact with an attorney who forwarded a letter to KZ addressing all of the issues requesting a resolution. It was received and signed for on 12-8-13 and it has yet to have been acknowledged.

I'am a 2014 sportsman classic owner,,bought in Jan.this yr. Still winter here in Delaware but I have checked it for leaks sitting in the driveway. (19ft'er) No leaks yet. The unit was built in April of 2013. Can you tell me exactly when or what type of windows were recalled? Just want to make sure I don't have the bad windows. Thanks ahead of time for whatever you can share.

I realize this is an old thread, but, I have a 2011 19BH as well. I did get some water in one time while sitting in the driveway but nothing since. It did seem to come from the Window over the bunk/dining table. If anyone has any information on the recall for the windows, I would greatly appreciate it.
