Has anyone had any issues with putting a rear bumper hitch receiver on their rv to carry bikes? I had my rear bumper =replaced= with heavier gauge tube, then had a receiver welded on. Done by a welding shop. It was specifically NOT for a trailer, just for a 300 lb, max, cargo rack or bike rack. My bumper had a decorative cladding on it and they were able to drill out the rivets and re-fit it on the new tube, so it still looked nice. Same goes for adding a spare tire rack on an OEM bumper that doesn't have an OEM receiver. DON'T, unless you beef up the bumper. Lyle

Direct answer to your question: Yes, pretty much everyone has had issues. Factory bumpers are exceptionally flimsy and barely hold a spare tire, add the leverage of a bike rack and you will experience failure. Best thing to do is to do what Lyle did, have a welding shop fab up a much heavier bumper.
