When I picked up my KZ Durango with my 2021 Chevy 3500 in February I was disappointed to learn that the dealer-installed Furrion cameras I ordered would not work with my truck. The delivery tech at the dealer demonstrated that they work just fine connected to an external power source, but do not work when connected to my truck. They are on the marker light circuit on the RV. I did some research and found that this is an issue known to Furrion. Apparently GM is using some sort of PWM "Pulse Width Modulation" as an energy management "feature" on their newer trucks. Furrion produced a device for 2019 and 2020 trucks which plugs in series between the RV and truck that solves the issue. Unfortunately GM changed things up again for 2021 so the workaround device does not work for my truck. Furrion is aware of the issue, working on a solution, but has no ETA for the 2021 solution. So I set out to remedy the situation with my own kludged together device. I purchased male and female 7-pin connectors with wiring pigtails and a terminal block attached. I connected the circuit for the RV marker lights to the continuous 12V feed from the truck with a small switch on the terminal box. This allows the cameras to function normally so apparently no PWM on the main power feed. This solution has an added bonus feature of allowing the user to forget to turn the marker lights off and run the truck batteries down. I'm vigorously testing this feature.

I appreciate your creativity. And here I am thinking Ford is the leader in "make it overly complicated" department, as they do some stupid stuff like that with the tail lights on the truck. Luckily, Ford doesn't use anything tricky for the trailer circuit - at least so far. I learned that when the tail lights on the truck shut off due to water in the connections, but my trailer lights worked just fine.

Hank, Thanks for posting your wiring solution. I have experienced the same with my 2021 truck, and have done a lot of research as well. I opted to install an inline filter at the rear camera wiring to stabilize the voltage, which works great, but I might like your solution better. I'll be looking forward to hearing how well it works after your testing. Thanks

Even though you would have found this to be a problem during your PDI it may have been a good learning experience for the rv Tech an the dealer to tell buyers there may be a problems using a Newer GM product an not the fault of the trailer MFG or them ... Safe Travels Chuck
