has anyone installed an awning on a slide room? Would like an awning on one of the slides, is there enough structure to attach it to?

has anyone installed an awning on a slide room? Would like an awning on one of the slides, is there enough structure to attach it to? I've seen more than one rig with awnings on slides. Usually a small awning just to shade the window, maybe 3', give or take. A couple that I saw had the awnings down at such a steep angle they pretty much covered the window. Made them useless, IMO. I'm =still= trying to find a "made it myself" type article that was in Trailer Life, IIRC. Guy cut out some plywood that he stuck over the upper "flange" on his slide out and used a basic tarp to cover the slide and make a combo topper and awning. I think he had some PVC pipe between the ends to hold up the tarp and some more PVC to support the end of the tarp, which was staked down. Opposite side was just roped over the top and staked on the other side. There's a groove over the kitchen slide on my rig, and I've thought about doing something similar, but having an actual piece of awning material fitted, and just sliding it into the track and using some PVC pipe to make poles to support the outer end. Mine has two awnings. The main covers the steps and back to the bedroom 17ft, the front over the windows (entire slide) is 11ft.

Lyle Looked at something like this I saw in an RV park, he used shade cloth, wish I'd have looked harder, I want to do toppers and don't have room. Trying to keep the heat off the slide tops, especially the fridge.

We had Shade Pro look at adding a second awning out to our kitchen slide out...281 RLT...Not doable account window too far over and not enough space for support bracket installation..They would not install on side panels of slide out.. However with topper channel on this side they sold me a 10 by 12 sun shade that slides in channel with pool noodles top protection and four poles and ratchet straps it gives good shade..
