Hi, Just curious if anybody replaced the plastic Compartment lock on a Durango Gold 5th wheel They look like the attached image ( the middle one) thanks tj IMO, it's pointless to replace the storage compartment locks. A large screwdriver or pry bar will pop the locks pretty easily and, if that doesn't work, a drywall saw can punch through and you could just saw the door panel out. All the locks do is to keep honest people honest. I will, probably...some day, change the lock cylinders to a non-standard key so that most of the rest of the CG doesn't have the same key. I still have a CH751 on one of my doors, but you can access the entire pass-through from that door so the slam lock doors aren't any real deterrent. Lyle

Hi, Just curious if anybody replaced the plastic Compartment lock on a Durango Gold 5th wheel They look like the attached image ( the middle one) thanks tj I haven’t replaced the storage compartment locks, but have upgraded the entry door lock then replaced cylinders so they’re all keyed the same. Is something like that what you’re wanting to do? Jay

The trouble I have is some of those lock a so cheap they jammed and I had to get in from the other side and force the lock up to open the door. Then I had to dismount them and try to fix them as good as I could. I'm aware that a good pull will just do the trick.

They’re pretty cheap built for sure. Jay

I, for the life of me, can't figure out why the front storage door (across the front, where a genny would be) has 1/4 turn locks (like the propane compartment) and the 751 cylinder in the middle. Why not a single slam lock in the middle and the 1/4 turn locks on the corners? Makes zero sense, but then, again, what makes much sense about 90% of RVs anyway? Lyle

Jay Don't get me wrong, I love slam locks, though I rarely "slam" them. :-) I'd hate to have to do a crawl through the pass-through to release one, though! :-( Lyle

Hi, Just curious if anybody replaced the plastic Compartment lock on a Durango Gold 5th wheel They look like the attached image ( the middle one) thanks tj My Battery compartment door has the middle latch, it sticks an I have to get a screwdriver at times to open it ...
I agree with Lyle, a large screwdriver even if locked can open the door

I spray mine with silicone spray occasionally. Works great and doesn’t collect dirt and dust as badly as most lubricants. I keep a can handy all the time.

Edd I use that stuff on my compartment doors an also levelers all the time, that darn slam hatch door on the battery door use to drive my crazy to yesterday when a few amateur radio guy stopped by who has a different brand of trailer that had the same problem ....
He to;d me to get a big pliers, opened the door pinched were the latch hooked to an problem went away, now fixed, apparently the part where the lat was hooking to was to wide an he narrowed a hair an now it works fine ... Just one of a hundred little tweaks

I took the lock apart and a plastic sleeve piece had worked itself loose and I was able to get the lock to work again. However, it still doesn't work that easily so I'm looking for a replacement to have as a spare. Climbing into the cargo area from the other side to force the lock open is a royal PITA.

Hi, Just curious if anybody replaced the plastic Compartment lock on a Durango Gold 5th wheel They look like the attached image ( the middle one) thanks tj Did you ever get an answer? I want to order a spare (middle pic) to have on hand. I just experienced one of my cargo door handles not releasing and it's a pain in the butt to have to crawl through from the other side to force the latch open.
