KZ 180QB Sportmen classic.
I have noticed that the awning will only work when I am plugged into shore power. This seems odd to me, what if you are boondocking?
I have 2 batteries.... the charge per the trailers monitor is full charge. The lights etc. all seem to work.
Is the awning designed to work only on shore power (I thought it had a 12V motor), does anyone know?
If it is also meant to operate off the batteries, what could be the problem?
ANY advice would be appreciated.

It should work on the battery. Unplug and check the voltage at the battery. Now see if the interior lights are bright, then watch them as you press the awning button. If they stay bright, then there is a bad or missing connection in the wiring between the battery and the switch. Report back with the battery voltage. Also, those monitors are a poor device in every way.

Didn't say how old, bad battery(s)or connections, converter powers and when off not enough 12V.

You can have voltage, but no amps. In addition to what Lynnmor suggested, unplug from shore power, turn the furnace on along with all the lights. Between the furnace and lights you will have an idea how good your batteries really are.
