If you have the electric tilt bed can you put it up while laying in it or do you need to be off the bed while adjusting? ours ?sounds like the tracks are skipping of clicking if we are in the bed when adjusting the height? thinking maybe something needs to be adjusted or tightened, Thoughts ?

I've tried ours a couple times while laying on it, and no. It moves an inch and stops. I don't think the motor or mechanism is designed for that unfortunately.

I don't know because mine doesn't have that feature, but it doesn't make much sense to have a tilting bed that you can't operate while in the bed. Kind of like having a recliner that only reclines when you're not sitting in it.

I have to agree with jfspry58, when I started reading this thread, my first thought was "what good is an electric bed that won't move when you are in it?

Well, I'll agree with the "what good is it if you can't use it while you're laying on it" school of thought, but I will say this.. What I do Like about it is, after you get out of bed, you lift the bed, and it gives you an extra foot or so of floor space making it a lot more comfortable to move around and get dressed.

The extra space at the foot of the bed is great, and watching TV in bed with the bed tilted up is actually I like. I really dont mind getting our of bed to lower or raise it, but wanted to check with others if it can be used while in bed

From what I can gather, the LCI Schwintek electric tilt bed is rated for 800 pounds. Here's a link to their specs page (https://lci-support-doc.s3.amazonaws.com/specification_sheets/ccd-0004204.pdf). The switch is sometimes mounted higher than easily reached because of the way some of the bedroom slide wall framing is constructed. Hope this helps.

Message directly from KZ: The best way to raise and lower it is without someone on the bed the resistance of the weight of the person can cause binding.

It does kinda suck to get out of bet to put it up and down,, I thought it would be more like a craftmatic bed, but the switch is really out of reach when laying in bed,, but the good part is the extra foot or so of room at the end of the bed when its up.. that being said, it came with the unit, not an option,

Maybe this is something I should add to the PDI list LOL !!! "Check to make sure bed rises while laying in bad if unit has such included in build" an make sure you can reach such while laying in bed Chuck

Any one else heard the bed has to be raised so it does not crush the dresser? I thought I wasn't to do the tilt bed but the reviews aren't that good.

Ours wont crush the dresser fireplace, but will just barely touch it with the bed down. Enough where I wouldn't want it rattling down the road like that.

The reason the tilt bed must be in the tilted/up position while the slide is closed is not because it will hit the dresser. It needs to be in the up position because there is no support on the end of the bed platform. If left in the down position while the slide is it will break the platform. The base of the bed is stationary, only the ply wood mattress platform and tilt mechanism moves with the slide and there is no support under it if the slide is closed and the bed is flat.

Maybe it's supposed to...to keep the fireplace from coming out while traveling. They probably saved the cost of the 4 mounting screws by doing this. Lyle
