Good morning,
I scanned through many threads on this forum, however could not find one regarding real world pin hitch weights for either the Durango 256RKT or the Durango 321RKT. I know the posted weights are on the websites, however the numbers are generally higher, sometimes by a few hundred lbs depending on the build. Understanding that the PIN weight will increase as you load your trailer, etc. I am just looking for the dry PIN weights for the 256RKT and 321RKT from a delivered unit.
I am looking to order a new unit and want to be realistic about the actual PIN weights prior to making any decisions. Generally this is the deciding factor.
Thanks Corey

Every unit is weighed as it comes off the line as a finished product. Everyone of them will.have a different dry weight, dry pin weight and cargo capacity all dependent on how the unit was optioned and the use of current building materials. It would be rare for two to be exactly the same. The weights listed on the KZ web site will be "close". How you load your trailer and what it weighs " ready to camp" is a much more important measurement.

Take 20% of the GVW and 25% of the GVW, and your actual pin wt will almost certainly be in between. Not saying that there aren't excursions, but those are the rules-of-thumb until you can actually get a weight. That being said, my old Komfort was about 15-17% of GVW on the pin, when loaded. It did ride pretty well, surprisingly; almost no chucking or porpoising, which you usually get when the pin is light. I certainly didn't want it any heavier as I was over my RAWR by about 300 lbs, but under my tire rating by about 800, IIRC. I was also well over my GCWR (combined weight) by about 1200 lbs, but being an old farmer, I never really worried about that too much. :-) Lyle

I agree that every trailer coming of the assemble line will be different, I have to say I never seen them weigh a trailer at the factory but did see them take one down the road to a local truck stop an weight one a few years ago when I was back there ... Are Durango was a under what was posted on the Kz web page by 400pds dry weight the day we bought it home. I have added some newer suspension assemblies since then an have not done an dry weight since that was done ... Safe Travels

I have no real world experience with the 256 or 321 but our 333 is pretty close to the same size as the 321 you're considering so maybe the differences will be similar. The dry pin weight on the website showed to be 2070 pounds. In reality it was almost 2200 pounds after the dealer filled the propane tanks and added a battery. But... after we loaded it up for camping (these things have HUGE basements) and I replaced the pin box, it now averages around 2800 pounds.
