Anyone had experience with one of these? Moved in about 3 weeks ago, talked with fish and game and they have not trapped one, OKed shooting if it becomes a problem. I have put out live traps as it's baby time and if it has babies I don't want to shoot it. Living under an out building right now and come toward the house and gets bird seed of all things. Dog cornered it behind the grill and it watched me wash my truck today. Think it was trying to figure out the pressure washer noise.
Cornered behind grill & not happy.
Watching me today.

Wow!! These guys don't normally come that close to people. They're like D8 Cats when it comes to moving dirt, and they have a bad attitude. Hopefully after having little ones, if it does, it will move on. Be ready to do some ground repair work, and hopefully your dog won't get hurt by it before that happens. Game and Fish should have helped you out by either relocating it for you, or putting you in touch with someone who could! Best of luck to you!

Watching me today. Man, don't let you dog(s) near that dude (or dudette). If it gets pissed, it'll likely kill your dog. Really surprised that G&F won't help you, even by sending out a contract trapper. Lyle

Im in Andover, on Pymatuning reservoir. Ha! We're in "Sunny Macedonia Ohio" & we'll be camped at Pymatuning State Park (OH side) on the 21st. I've never seen a Fisher, and it doesn't sound like I want to either! I don't mind the Critters as long as they keep their distance. Edd505's Badger is way to close for comfort!

The fisher is just one of them, there is also its smaller cousin the mink that hangs out there. Both would sooner fight you than avoid you. Both will definitely rip you a new a-hole. Fishers are what the pilgrims and early colonists called poll cats. They were thought to be extinct but were wrong. In Pa. right now both the fisher and mink are protected. Attachments:

And X2 to what Lyle said, they will tear a dog up. Had a buddy that had some sort of Aussie shepherd cross. Mean AF and loved to bait coyotes in so he (the dog) could kill them. Total a-hole and buddy was the only one who could, sort-of, handle that beast. Lyle

That is a badger, and they’re meaner than a junkyard dog! As others have suggested, they can also move massive amounts of dirt and can burrow with the best of them. You definitely want to give him (or her) plenty of space and keep your dog away.

so far it's keeping a distance from us and I go out with the dog and not just open the door. Been in contact with Fish & Game again and they asked for pictures and let them know how it goes. They had a meeting and discussed it but non have ever dealt with one in a yard. They normally travel and don't stay in one place over a few days. All are in agreement that with as long as it's been here it likely has cubs (I thought they were kits, wrong) The badger is protected but again they stressed IF it becomes an issue shoot it. Think I'm running a zoo, javelins 7 deer just outside the fence, multi rabbits, flocks of birds, and we feed them all. Joys or walking out the back gate and being on the desert with nearest house a couple miles away, I see lights at night. I was raised you don't kill unless you plan to eat.

What? No coyotes? I guess we need to send you a few. Tell ya what, Take a dozen 'yotes, and we will throw in 2 antelope. Yep plenty of them outside the chain link along with the javelin. The badger came under a low spot on a rear gate, neighbor saw it come in and called, he wanted us to know before we let the dog out. The link you sent says the coyotes partner and hunt with badgers so we could compound the issue. Game cams went up today so I'll see what kind of pictures we get, Fish & Game asked to keep them apprised of how it goes. We are all learning about one that's basically fenced in.
PS:getting low on meat, send the antelope.
