We have upcoming trips planned that have a number of one night stays and I’m thinking it would be convenient to stay hitched to the tow vehicle. I’m curious about any recommendations or advice out there. A few items I’m wondering about: - Landing gear
- Leveling jacks
- Wheel chocks
- Wheel stabilizers
Any feedback is much appreciated!

We have done this a couple times. Ours was literally over night. We but the stabilizers down and that was about it. Just want to make sure you have a somewhat level spot so you can put your slide out(if you're planning on it)

Hank,
Trailer or 5TH wheel? Over the years we have done one night stays without unhooking the 5TH wheel. Got as level as possible, lowered the rear stabilizers just to keep the unit from rocking, pulled the plug from the truck and that's it. Have been doing it for over twenty years, no wheel chocks or anything because it's hooked to the truck, set the parking brake and it isn't moving, so far no issues. Just make sure you reconnect the cord to the tow vehicle. Happy Campin....

Thanks Bammer & RdRmr - I’m in a 2021 Durango 5th wheel. Seems like it would be a bad idea to use the auto leveling system while hitched. I can lower the landing gear at the front of the trailer to add some stability. I’m don’t know yet whether I can lower the rear jacks manually using the OneControl system. Still researching that.

Yep do it all the time when we overnight at a Harvest Hosts. Front jacks down to stabilize. Disconnect electric from truck. Open bedroom slide only.

Yes using auto leveling would be bad, the nose drops first when unhooked and you auto level. Use manual and just drop the front landing gear if your just over night. I have also just dropped the front, pulled the cord, pulled forward just enough to clear the truck, and auto level. In the morning just back under and rehook.

With the four point auto leveling system on ours it has a hand held remote that enables you to lower the rear by themselves. The newer units as I understand it have an app or a wall mounted display panel, not sure about them as I don't have that. Read your manual and play around with it to familiarize yourself with it, see what features it has. Happy Campin....

With the OneControl app you can lower the rear jacks on the 4-point system much like your remote. We too occasionally “parking lot camp” overnight and just unhook the cord, lower the stabilizer jacks, and extend the bedroom slide without ever unhitching. If you need the other slides out you can extend them as well. Good luck and safe travels! Jay

Why not use the auto level if you've got it? Yeah, I =could= manually level, mostly, but that'd probably take 3-4x as long as just unhitching and pulling forward 6' and autoleveling. Unfortunately, I have to put out all the slides since there's no access to the kitchen without the 2 rear slides out. Thanks, peninsula sink. :-) Also, when boondocking, I leave my FW plugged in and the truck running while leveling and putting out the slide. Why not use truck power instead of the batteries? Lyle

Thanks to all for your valuable input! I now know the options and have a plan for our trip in June.
