S281RLSS, 2013 Been in the Texas Hill Country for 5 mo. and now trailer is in storage lot. Water in Hill Country was well water and had lots of calcium in it. Got socket to fit drain on suburban water heater (1 1/16") and drained tank. Sacrificial element looked a little pitted, but O.K.. While draining the tank noticed calcium deposits coming out of tank. About half way through draining the tank, stuck my finger in tank and could feel calcium deposits on bottom of tank. The tank needs flushed out. Here's my plan: with water heater turned off, I'm going to close all faucets, remove drain plug from water heater, hook up water supply and turn water on. Cold water should flow through system to water heater and flush tank. Question is will this work ?? Is there a better way or what ?? KZ tech support guy around ?? Thanks

Did you ever get an answer to this calcium problem? I have drained my HW tank for the winter and thought this might be a good idea when opening the trailer in the spring.

We bought a wand to attach to the garden hose that allows you to flush the hot water tank through the tank drain. Purchased it at Camping World...probably available at any RV stores. We haven't tried it yet but will come spring.

Take a look at where the flushing water will go. Some installations will allow water to enter the wall and might cause damage. Before you start, you might want to caulk so that all water flows outside. Opening the low point drains and the relief valve on the water heater might allow the heater to empty before removing the anode rod. I use a long plastic pipe nipple in the drain hole and made a long probe.
