This is probably a stupid question -- I have a portable EMS-PT30X to pug in my 201BH -- I see they have a hard wired one - EMS-HW30C - is it more beneficial for the hard wired one or just stay with the portable??? - They both do the same thing and I don't see the benefit of using both -- thoughts

I think the difference is personal preference? Portable units are easier to take with you if you trade up your trailer. Portable units pose a risk of theft or of you forgetting it at the camp site. Hard wired units can be taken with you if you trade up but with a little more effort involved. No benefit to using both at the same time.

I lost count of the years camping and never a theft. Worked LE for 25 years in a popular tourist area, multi state, and county parks with camping, one reported theft of some sleeping bags from outside a tent. I leave thing out in the campsite all the time. If I thought theft would be an issue I would just move on.

Works great. Lyle

I use a external to check the post at the campsite, then if ok, I plug in to the internal one (Hughes)

That's awfully considerate to give the low lifes a choice.
