Hello, and thank you for the add. We just bought our first RV, and I know nothing about them. I don’t know how to fill the hot water tank. I have looked all over online, but I can’t find any information on this model. I am guessing there is a valve somewhere to bypass the hot water heater, but I am not sure where it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum and the RV world. The water heater will self fill either by using the water pump or when connected to city water. Typically the water heater bypass is at the back of the water heater, but some coaches have a water management panel, which is nothing more than a collection of valves that change how and where water is sent- or not sent. Your dealer should have given you a walk thru and explained all of this, as there is lots more to this, and the general operation. But feel free to ask any questions, there is a deep pool of knowledge and experience here.

Congratulations on the new rig! As nvguy said, your dealer should have covered all that with you but it’s shocking how many don’t. What brand/make/model is your trailer? That would help us to be more specific on your valve arrangement. Best of luck!

Look at the back of your water heater -- there are blue and red pipes with valves on them -- they are the By Pass Valves to turn off the water when yu winterize the trailer -- just open them so the water flows into the heater - for filling -- do the You Tube videos for winterizing and Dewinterizing the RV water heaters -- great information !!!
Have fun with the camper -- safe travels

There are two valves, in the 180 qb they are located inside the trailer behind the water tank and almost impossible to reach. I had to cut a hole in the wood panel next to the toilet. This allowed me to reach in to the valves. They normally are very stiff, so hard to move. I am sure KZ could have done better, even on a budget trailer.

Do you happen to know if they come bypassed from the factory?

Yes, that how it was when we took delivery. The two valves were in place as far as I am aware. The 1st winter I had the dealer do the winterizeing for me. It was the 2nd winter when I did it myself I discovered the two valves, one which allows the antifreeze to bypass the hot water tank.

Jay It’s a 2021 Sportsmen Classic 180 BH Hmmmm... if I had paid attention to the title of the thread I would have known that. Sorry about that. At least it sounds like you found the information you need. Good luck! Jay

I'm sorry to hear that they didn't cover how to add water to your new home on wheels, but you shouldn't feel alone, I you look thought a number of these threads many owners have fell victim to RV tech or Salesman at dealers not covering all the ins an outs of their new rig ... I'm glad that their are any old timers on the form to help new owners out with problems that they have
