Last summer we noticed the floor was soft just inside the entry door. After trying to get help from the dealer to no avail we found that the entire sub floor had rotted out due to water damage. When we tore the rotten wood and insulation out we found two huge holes that had been cut in the water barrier to run wires up into the cabin. Water from the road had been washing up through those holes and pudding on top of the water barrier and continued to rot the wood out until the floor caved in. There was no need for the holes to be that big for three wires and at the very least they should have been resealed. Poor workmanship by KZ. We had to do the repairs ourselves as the dealer was of no help. Check your water barrier.

Man, that sounds rough. Glad you found and fixed the problem. How would you have checked the water barrier without tearing the floor up? Is that something that can be seen from under the trailer?

Sounds like the dealer was as bad as KZ on this one. Lyle

I never trust anyone to do what I can, if I do it I know it's right, if something goes a miss it's on me. Found multi places I was not happy with the sealing. I just found another where the water control panels mounted, took 4 years to spot this one when I saw mineral deposits under that box. I'm a bit fanatic on maintenance, who else pressure washes the bottom after running in snow to get road salts off?

The cuts in the water barrier were visible from under the trailer if you were looking for them. Just something as a 1st time owner we were not aware of. Something to watch for. Something KZ shpuld maybe watch for as well. Just passing it on.

I’m with Edd on maintenance. I check everything myself and still find stuff I’ve missed in the past. I was under mine yesterday and noticed some rusty spots showing up on the frame, and it’s less than a year old. I’ll be power washing underneath and touching it up when I get it back home.

I'm with you all on checking everything, but there is some things that you think you have checked an then find that you have not ...Point in care, I check my rig all the time, look for water leaks but as I have posted I now have 8k of water damage to my 5th wheel ... Some of the damage is within the walls under the frame-less windows on the dinning area, even with the awning over the windows water got into the wall, how I will never know, bad window seals from factory, I don't know ... Thus take it from someone who checks his rig all the time, things can an will go south quickly from what I am seeing an yes my yearly inspections from the dealer was no help, they always stated the trailer was in
Safe Travels
