I am going to sanitize the fresh water holding tank on our 2020 Connect RB261 or Connect 261RB .... I found the location where the winterizing siphon is by the water pump. I have not found the hot water heater by-pass valves.
Some YouTube videos recommend not running the high chlorine through the hot water heater. Is there a by-pass for the water heater already installed for the Connect 261RB? IF yes where is it?
If I leave the hot water heater off until I flush all the high chlorine through the system and out, I am thinking the anode would be ok..... but maybe the anode metal reacts with chlorine....
Time for some more google work
If anyone knows already please answer.
Thanks -- Chris

And the manual, says there could be a hot water heater by pass... or they may not be one.... and if there is one.... it doesn't say where.....

The bypass and valves should be near the backside of the water heater. You may need to open a cabinet door or remove a panel to find it. Adding bleach to your water tank and filling it will allow you to run the pump and fill the water heater with a bleach solution weak enough that it will do no harm. Run each faucet, hot and cold till the bleach smell comes thru, then fill the tank to overflowing and let it set for hours, preferably overnight. The point of filling completely is to sanitize the tank to the top and up into the fill line.

I’ve run a mild bleach solution through the water heater in my previous trailers many times with no issues. It won’t hurt the tank or anode rod, but as lynnmor said, the bypass should be near the back of the hot water tank.

The Hot Water tank by-pass valves are accessible once you remove the panel under the kitchen sink on Connect RB261. Here are pictures and instructions on the valves Basically if the valve handle is inline with the overall hose line it bypasses the hot water tank if the handles point towards the hot water tank the water can flow into the tank Hope this helps others.

I hate it when they crimp a flexible hose on a PEX fitting, hoses are to attach to a hose barb. Keep an eye on that faulty installation, maybe you can leave the panel out so a leak can be spotted before major damage occurs. That kink in the hose adds to drama.

I am now going to check mine on my 241 to check it out.

Yes, was considering bringing parts for my next longer camping trip to change it.... We had a nice trip to Stone Mountain GA to get it out of winterization.... and now they are forecasting freezing weather for two nights (27 & 30) in Eastern TN. It usually never freezes.... May need to go on a trip this week to warmer weather to avoid re-winterizing.....
