When we got our Montego Bay in'07-it had a 5th airborne hitch and our GMC sat high. The combination of the two placed the 5er nose high and we had to flip the axles to get it level. Our dealer has always been honest and treated us well and said that it wasn't his or mine falt and offered to split the cost with me. It cost me about $140.00 but he could have stuck it to me if he wanted to. I had REALLY got a good deal on the 5er and thought his offer to split the cost was fair. When we purchased our new Stoneridge, the first thing we did was hook up to the truck before we ever signed any papers. It sat level but does not have the 5th airborne on it. With an 5th airborne on it too would sit about 3 inches high in the nose.

I agree with shortlance. It's not the dealer's job to make sure you tow level, unless you made that part of the purchase agreement. I know you didn't want to hear that, but that's the way it works. Most newer trucks have higher beds/bedrails and your situation is unfortunately very common.
The other items the dealer should take care of. If not, contact KZ directly ... they really are good guys to deal with.
My 2 cents.

okay, I here both of you. just to let you know this isn,t my first rv. so far in our lives we had two tent campers two travel trailers and this will be our third 5th wheel. those where all bought new and came set-up to the tow vehicle.this will be the first that didn,t.i really don,t care about the money it cost to set this up right. what bugs me is that the dealership said it was fine the way it was.he could of said it would cost x amount of dollars to set it up to your tow vehicle.instead he let me pull this thing around like it was for four outings knowing it was not . thank you both for your imputs

I do agree with you that the dealer should have never said it was OK that way. Our dealer is a family owned business and everything goes thru the owner and he takes pride in his business and service. He even refused to sell a trailer to my one friend because the weight numbers were to close to be safe with the tow vehicle he had. Our dealer is one of the reasons we got our first KZ and why I didn't even shop around when we were ready to upgrade to the Stoneridge. After our first trip with the Stoneridge I had a few minor warranty issues and he took the 5er in and corrected everything the next day. KZ makes a good product and stands behind there RVs but if you don't have a good dealer you could have problems. I hope you can get all your issues fixes so you can start to really enjoy your new 5er! Be safe and enjoy, Thane and Sharon

I bought my Stoneridge Sportster from the same dealer - Family RV in Newark NY. I had absolutely no trouble with dealer prep or setup, but I was at the dealers for almost 4 hours while they installed my Splendide washer/dryer (part of the deal). They also adjusted the pin box on the trailer so it would ride level with my truck even though that was not written into the deal. I don't know if you worked with the owner Larry, but he treated me very well.

wow, that's surprising to me. he adjusted your pin box so that yours would ride level even thought it wasn,t in the deal!!!!!!and he told me mine would be just fine the way it was with the nose up in the air.what a dealership.he must base what he does for custumers by the amount of money they spend.yes larry was my salesman.even thought he agrees on fixing the water tank and the floor in the slide out its that it takes for ever to get it done.its going on four weeks now and he doesn,t even have the parts yet. I,m glad that your stoneridge is serving you well. I hope someday mine will to.

Just to be clear, you are right, the dealer should have never told you it was ok to tow nose high. Didn't mean to sound uncaring or anything.
Good luck with your Durango, I sure love mine.

that's ok joe, we love ours to.its just all these problems are starting to wear on us.we have to keep reminding ourselves that this is a new unit.also I wish the dealership would just stop the bs and give us the straight poop.even if there is cost tied to it.i would rather pay a little now then alot later.

well hello everyone, just thought I would update everyone on this Durango. its been along time threw all these repairs but it looks like things are finally coming together. so far we had the roof replace, the dinette floor replace ,the fresh water tank replace ,the living room tv replace ,the living room slide adjusted so it doesn,t shake going in or out. there where a lot of little things repaired .too many to list. we still have the gauge in kitchen floor which the dealer says he can,t fix. sounds odd to me . we havn,t had the chance to tri out the fresh water tank yet since it was late October when we got it back it went right into storage.i also had the king pin raise so it tows more level with tow vehicle. tows a lot better now. it looks like kz and family rv does stand behind there products. it just seems like it took forever to get things repaired. I am a lot happier now then I was a year ago. we can,t wait for the camping season to start so we can get back to doing what we love. hopefully this season will be trouble free.
