Looking at buying a new 356, but it does not have Gen Prep. So, would have to trade-in the current generator. Trying to figure out how to 'add' a generator to the new rig. Any ideas? I am 68, so lifting a generator in and out of the rig is not a great option.
The generator I am looking at is: Champion 3400-Watt Dual Fuel RV Ready.
I figure it can go into the utility side of the basement - but the exhaust will be an issue. Any ideas out there?
Also, does anyone have the width of the utility side of the basement - 356RLT.
The other solution is to build a rig with gen prep - but then the cost goes up. The dealer is giving a good price to buy the on-the-lot rig. It does have the solar option, but would like the generator to run the ac when doing the occasional boondock.

Champion chained to back rack. Gen sets only 30 amp so I carry a 30amp cord that just reaches the the RV supply, it does not leave the rack.

Great idea - but that is where we carry the wife's scooter...

I have seen more than one genny mounted to the pin box. Might not be the best place, but it's doable. Personally, given that the crappy racks from LCI are only rated at 200 lbs (or at least mine is), I'd look to finding a good welding shop and having a new rack made, one that would carry both the genny and the scooter. Since the genny would be more-or-less permanent, you could have a "gen box" made to cover it, too.

Lyle That was my first thought, get a welder to beef it up, use the current mounts and add rails to the frame on both sides. The expanded metal may need changed, diamond plate? I do like that it folds up though mine does stay down. I suspect a good welder/fabricator could make about anything you wanted.
