For those that have a 280, can you tell me model of the Pin Box on these units, I need to know if a spacer is required to fit a Reese Goosebox?

Well I've changed my mind on the Reese & decided on a GenY instead but still can't believe no-one know the model number of the pin box on these smaller 5th wheelers?

I don’t have a 280 but my Durango came with a Lippert 1621 pin box. They are very common. If you contact etrailer.com support, they can give you a chart that shows the hole spacing. You can measure yours to determine which one. The other option is to call Lippert with a frame serial number and they can tell you which pin box you have. That should be stamped somewhere on the frame near the pin box itself. Good luck and safe travels!

To clarify, I haven't taken delivery of my new 280 yet, that's why I was looking for confirmation on what pin box it would be delivered with. I suspected it would be a Lippert 1621, but would prefer to confirm before I ordered a new pin box to match.

1621 I believe is the bolt pattern. I just looked and mines listed as 1621 Rota-Flex then there is a 1621 Standard or long. The price differance between standard and the Rota Flex is almost nothing. The Rota Flex & B&W hitch are the smoothest & quietest I have used and I tow more than most.

Thanks for that Edd. Rota Flex looks like a good unit but I'm looking for an empty truck box when not towing. The Reese goose box was what I 1st decided on but the GenY offers good ride, many less moving parts & shocks to wear out at a substantially less unit price.

My B&W has four handles, swing to open and lift out. I use an electric winch on the shop ceiling but the hitch comes apart pulling a couple pins. Lift the two parks and you have an empty bed. I do pull mine when I know it will be awhile before I tow or if I need to haul something, might take 10-15 minutes tops. I just leave the hitch set on the floor until I need it again.

By "when not towing" I mean when at a camp spot for a day up to couple weeks before moving on. It's pretty easy to lift out a 2-5/16" ball, that's my thought.

Done that also, just leave the hitch hang on the pin box. Might want to ask about warranty I have heard if you covert to a goose neck it voids the warranty. Be worth the call or wait until out of warranty.

Be worth the call or wait until out of warranty. When I replaced my pin box, I was told the same, that as long as I replaced it with a "pin box which attached to a traditional/conventional 5th wheel hitch" the warranty would not be affected, but if I replaced it with a gooseneck adapter or an adapter that in any way modified the hitch or frame geometry, that it would void the frame warranty due to additional torque applied to the frame while towing. That being said, I've heard a lot of good feedback about the Goosebox. Also, if you've been given a VIN, you should be able to link it back to the frame serial number for your unit even though you haven't taken delivery yet. Jay

Haven't received a VIN # yet, is there a time line when I would expect to receive one? The Reese Goosebox does not void the warranty. ih.advfn.com/stock-market/NYSE/lci-industries-LCII/stock-news/48854599/lippert-components-designated-exclusive-supplier-o

I wasn't sure about how the Goosebox affects the warranty, but it is probably considered a replacement pin box instead of a gooseneck adapter. I can see how those adapters could put some undue torque on the frame but the Goosebox looks like a really good setup. Jay
