Good afternoon all! We ordered our first ever travel trailer at the end of September. It was a 2021 Durango 343MBQ 5th wheel. The dealership said that they would email me the VIN as soon as the unit entered production. However, I have not heard anything yet. I don't want to call and bug them needlessly and I know that due to demand, supply shortages and COVID that were was an extended lead time. But when should I start inquiring? I am nearing the 13th week since we placed the order. Any advice?

Hi there! I haven't ordered an RV yet, but did just go through this with a new truck. I have a couple of questions. First, did the dealer give you any idea how long it might take? If they did say approx 3 months, then maybe more patience is in order. If they didn't tell you anything, then you should be able to contact them and ask questions, and at least get some kind of update. Has the dealer contacted you at all? Did you put any money down? If the dealer hasn't given you any sort of an update, and you've put money down, by all means, bug them. 13 weeks is an awful long time to not hear anything at all. If it was me, I'd bug them for sure after that long.

At this point it think it would be reasonable to talk to the dealer to see if they have any sort of news, between the unusual covid and the unusual holiday / end of year shut & slow down things really drag out this time of year. Also, once an order is placed, be it RV or truck the powers that be add 5 extra hours to a day as well as another day to the week, so the wait seems even longer.

I agree with nvguy, I'd call dealer an ask them to give you some idea of what they are looking at on your build ... Also like nvguy stated waiting on a new trailer is very hard to say the least, day's feel like weeks an weeks feel like months .. Also as stated the end of year builds take longer because of the holidays an now the covid issue ... If you think it is hard now, wait till they say it's being built Ugh !!!! then you have to wait on the transporter to pick it up an deliver it to the dealer ... Also be mindful because the covid bug transporter are not as plentiful as they once were so even getting it to the dealer depending on where you are may even take longer sorry to say ... Also please. please. please do a very good PDI once you get the rig, as all of us know you will be very, very excited to get your new home on wheels an want to get it out an camping ASAP, slow down, take your time, make sure that everything works an that dealer fix's everything you find that needs fixing you will not regret it five or six months down the road or even a year later ... Be safe an hope you here something soon Chuck

Thanks for the info! I figured as much. I just ordered 2 F450 cab/chassis for 2 new ambulances back in November and they told me today to expect a March delivery. So not surprised
