I have a 2020 318 And with my 3 slides extended, there is a cheap looking black plastic on both of the now exposed recessed part of the slides . On all the other mostly 5th wheels at the campground, the exposed slides have the same aluminum siding as on the rest of the rig. These other 5th wheels look much more finished than mine. I thought Durango was one of the better brands, but these slides look embarrassingly cheap compared to all the others. Does anyone else have these, or did Durango forget to finish mine?

Mine are black as well. I kind of like it. Almost looks like carbon fiber.

A Grand Design was the first rig I saw that had the plastic looking slide walls. They were black. I don't know the purpose, but it seems to be a trend that is starting up in the industry.
When I got my RV, I opted for the full paint scheme in brown, and for a year or so my RV really stood out. Progress to now and there are a LOT of RVs that are brown or some other color than white.
You'll drive yourself crazy comparing your rig to every other one out there.

Son bought a 25 year old 5W (looks like new) and it has blue interior, common back then.

I grew up around dilapidated old farms and falling down buildings... old, gray wood is not my strong point. So I was glad to see RVs kinda move away from the old wood look.. I like about ALL the features of my 2017 Durango 251RLT. I did build a step mod going from 2 steps to three because it's easier with age. The step lifts out and stores atop the bed with the slides retracted. It's our first RV and has been fun!!

According to the KZ archieves, In the 2020 Durango line there is no 318 model. The last 318 model would have been 2018. That being said the black slide wall started in 2019 for the Durango/Durango 2500 and Durango Half Ton/1500. 2018 they were body colored. The Durango gold line to date has always used body colored out side slide walls.

I'd much prefer white, or off-white to the tans, browns and blacks you see today. With the black nose on my rig, I can feel the heat coming off it inside. I'd love to paint it to match the tan of the rest of the rig. I remember reading a post on rv.net several years ago where a guy was at a dealer in February. They had 2 identical Jaycos right next to each other, but one was white and the other was their tan scheme. Guy had his IR gun on him and, on a mid-50 degree day, walked inside and shot the temp of the sun-side walls in several places. Consistently, the tan rig was about 5 degrees warmer on the inside wall than was the tan one. Why the mfrs insist on putting dark colors on a product that's going to be used 90+% of the time in hot weather is beyond me. Gimme a white RV any day.

Our Durango Gold built in 2016 (2017 model) had the same body colored (Light Tan) on outside slide walls, the bottom of the slides are black ... Safe Travels

Lyle They've actually moved back to white for the new Durango line, starting in 2019 I believe. Our 333 is white with the black/gray/brown decals but still has a mostly black nose. I think the colors look good, but you're absolutely right, white reflects heat. Jay
