Folks, I just acquired a 2009 Chevy 3500 diesel dually, in great shape except for needing a set of rear tires. OEMs were General Grappler AWs, size 225/75-17. What are your thoughts regarding replacements? I'm open to just about any option, including the Michelin LTX M/S2, but nothing beats the real world feedback from real world users. Thanks in advance for your responses.

Put Michelins on our 2006 2500 Silverado , replacing the Bridgestones, pulling 31.5 Durango and have worked exceptionally well

Thanks! I love Michelins, but don't think they make a 225/75-17 LT tire. So far, I've found that General is phasing out the Grabbers in this size, and that the Firestone TransForce tires seem to be my best option. Have any of you dealt with replacing dually tires? What did you end up installing, and have you been able to use a different size without having clearance issues? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Updating the tire search question. Based upon both Consumer Reports test results and numerous customer reviews, I've decided to buy a set of Cooper Discoverer AT3s. The tread is pretty agressive, but I can use the added cold weather performance getting into and out of New Hampshire, folks who have them say they are very quiet, and I like the 55,000 mile tread warranty - uncommon for an LT tire to have any warranty at all. After we get some real worl experience with these, I'll post an update.

Following up on the tire question, I ended up with a full set of the Coopers, and was very pleased with the ride, low noise and durability. I'd recommend them highly, especially if your travels include snow covered or unpaved roads. Sadly, my 300 HD was recently totalled in an accident. No injuries. GMT seems to have the "crumple zone" design well developed. My new 300 HD has Michelin, and so far they are great. Very quiet, and wear rate projects out to over 60,000 miles before replacement.
