Good Morning all from Georgia. My name is Steve Folden and my wife Hayla and I just purchased our first ever new RV. We traded our DP for a 2021 KZ Durango 343 MBQ. We are wanting to explore the 5th wheel aspect of camping as we have always been in a motorized unit. We traded an purchased from Maxie Price RV here in GA. I was wondering if anyone else had made this transition and if they had any advice on positive or negative aspects of your experience. Any issues on KZ quality? A little late I know since I signed the paper. We have a great tow vehicle and plenty of experience with large loads and trailers so there is a bit of comfort (and a healthy respect) for the towing aspect. Looking forward to having a way to get around without towing a car behind the DP, but gonna miss all the room to spread out while we travel.

Hi Steve! I'll welcome you to this forum, although I don't have my K-Z just yet. LOL! Although we have owned two previous RVs, first a 34' fifth wheel, then a 33-1/2' bumper pull toy hauler. Here's my take on it - we're going back to the fifth wheel, for the living space you get out of a fifth wheel that you won't get out of a motorized unit. We like the capability of disconnecting our tow vehicle and then we can use it for other things. Our K-Z will come right after the first of the year, but we've picked the 382mbq. There are several folks on here that have a wealth of information in their brains, and are always willing to help. Good luck with your new RV!

A little late I know since I signed the paper. Looking forward to having a way to get around without towing a car behind the DP, but gonna miss all the room to spread out while we travel. For their price points, I'd have to say that KZ's quality is above average, though there =are= horror stories, as with anything. Just be diligent on getting stuff fixed while you're in warranty and keep an on-going list of issues and cross them off as they get fixed. Also, KZ does recognize that they are a smaller mfr, with fewer dealers, so is more than willing to work with you if you're away from a KZ dealer and need work done by a mobile repair. As I'm sure you found out with your DP, if you're handy, a lot of the "problems" are solvable on a DIY basis, even if they shouldn't have happened in the first place. When you get your new rig, tell the people at the dealer to just go away while you look it over on your PDI. Wear "work clothes", bring a couple notepads and several memory cards and take pics and videos of everything you even =think= is an issue. If you don't take at least 2 hours looking, opening, operating and crawling under and =into= the rig, you'll miss a lot of stuff. Some, you just flat out won't find until weeks or months down the road. After you do that, =then= have them show you how everything works, in detail and, again, take notes and shoot video. Even after over 2 years, it still takes me a while to figure out the damn auto-level system, though part of that is just not enough practice. :-) There's lots of good people here with lots of experience. Find the ones with the same FW and ask them about issues specific to =that= model. I think that you'll find that you're likely to have =more= room to spread out with a FW than the DP, unless your DP had more slides than what I'm familiar with. Lyle

dixierail Welcome to the Kz Form an Family
The DW an I went from a Class C to a 5th wheel years ago, we never looked back, even thought it was nice to be able to have someone make your sandwich or get a soda from the frigs going down the road we found that stopping in a rest area, or in a shopping center was just as easy an it gave us time to get out an walk around .... As well hooking an un hooking the cars was a real pain in the backside for me, I found hooking an un hooking the 5th wheel was to me alot easier
I agree with Lyle, Kz's price point for their quality is above average, though there as he stated some horror stories As with other RV MFG you find mistakes, they are only human an such happens, but Kz I believe tries harder to get things right .... As Lyle stated just be diligent on getting stuff fixed while you're under warranty and keep a list of
issues make make sure the dealer fix's what you have told him is wrong ...
Also as stated , KZ does recognize that they are a smaller mfr, with fewer dealers, so is more than willing to work
with you if you're away from a KZ dealer and need work done by a mobile repair....
Also when picking up your new trailer do a very, very, very , very good PDI an avoid any issues down the road, please read, print out the PDI list I have made on the form an cross off each item as your go over them ...
Again Welcome to the Kz Form an Family
Safe travels

Welcome! I can't speak to the transition from a DP to a 5th wheel, and we've only had ours a few months, but having had 3 previous trailers (2 5th wheels), I believe the build quality and detail of our KZ is better than the previous units. Ours is a Durango 333RLT but there are many similarities between ours and yours. There are lots of friendly and helpful people on this forum with much experience and info to share. Enjoy, and hopefully we'll meet on the road somewhere!
