We need to be in the Zion IL area for a few days, and were going to try Illinois State Beach Park. They apparently only have electric at the sites. Anyone stayed there in 2020? Apparently there have been some maintenance issues there, but if electric is ok, I don't care if other things aren't working or in perfect shape. It's first come first serve starting Oct 1.... I called and they were sold out for last weekend of September www2.illinois.gov/dnr/Parks/Pages/AdelineJayGeo-KarisIllinoisBeach.aspx

Might want to check with the park on size. I looked at one near my son and found most sites were 30ft of less with water electric only. Your next a really large city and it will fill fast, maybe too late already for a reserved site. I had to book a year ahead in WA to see my dad, he was just south of Seattle.

I called, and as of October 1st they are first come first served, no reservations. And they said they pretty much empty out on Mondays, as majority of people only stay at IL Beach State park for 2-3 days. We are arriving on a Thursday and they said very likely we will have a wide range of choices.... we shall see... I also confirmed, it is 30 Amp only at the campsite, no water or sewer. They do have a Potable / Drinking water station to fill tanks. And they have a dump station. I'll update after we visit.....

I grew up on lake Michigan shore a bit north of there in WI.

A successful trip. The spaces are actually quite large. We were there only 3 nights so lack of sewer wasn't an issue and we just dumped at the station on the way out. They had two stations side by side, so if there was a queue, they would all feed into that so no "choosing the wrong line to wait in"
There were water stations at walkable intervals so if your fresh tank ran low you could "jug" over some gallons to get by without moving the rig
The sites were great but the facilities not so much so if your tenting friends were with you, they are going to wish they had an RV. I would definitely camp there again, but would do it in the fall when it's less crowded like we did. only 75% occupancy.

and some sites easily holding 45ft tag axle RV's, but not all sites. all sites 30amp electric only. you need to have water onboard. You can fill via hose at dump station or other water stations around the park
