Hello gang! I've been absent for a while, but I finally got back here. I've been all over the place, different forums, etc looking for a new RV to fit our needs. I have questions concerning the G382MBQ, since I keep coming back to this particular model. It looks like we will probably be ordering one early 2021.
We want to spend the majority of our time dry camping, I am looking for any information about the off grid solar package K-Z offers on their RVs. Does anyone have it, do you like it, can you upgrade it, etc?
Can I get the factory to leave out the dish washer and install extra storage instead?
I see they are putting a fireplace in the bedroom in the 2021's. I'm going to ask they leave that out...I want one in the living area but not the bedroom.
We are also going to have the full timers desk installed rather than the dining table. That would get a lot more use.
Thank you anyone who has any feedback!
Kathy

Kathy I'm not sure about the solar package not many owners here on the form have talked about such, you might ask the question over on the Durango thread As far as leaving the dishwasher out I know that if a unit dozen't have a dishwasher Kz puts in a double sink in some models, not sure what is put in the space that the dishwarher was in maybe someone can answer that question ... As far as fireplace, I'm sure if you order the unit without Kz will do what you ask because not only do they want to sell a trailer but also the dealer You might have to push the dealer a little harder when ordering an have them write out in exact woring what you want but I believe your paying the big bucks they (Dealer) an Kz should give you what you want ... Good luck, please let us know how things turn out Chuck

We have the dishwasher, at first I thought it was a waste of space. I was informed it was an asset to our camping life. The fireplace is a game changer on a cool morning, They heat up the area quickly and the furnace does not have to run. We really like our Gold and the amenities it has. Good luck! Kirt

Kirt Oh, don't get me wrong, I would love a dish washer and a fireplace - my problem with both is we plan on boondocking 90% of the time, at least. Boondocking means conserving water and watching your electrical usage. I also understand the Gold is being marketed to the full timers, who will probably be plugged into shore power most of the time. I picked the 382mbq because of the floor plan, along with what I'm reading about the quality. So I'm hoping I can get it without the things that will make boondocking a little more difficult, and WITH the options that will make it work. I'm willing to leave the fireplace in the living area, I can see us letting it run while relaxing for a little while in the living area while we might be running a genny long enough to recharge the batteries before we retire for the evening. I can't see running a fireplace in the bedroom when we're sleeping. I don't like a warm bedroom to sleep in, I'd rather have the storage space. As for the dishwasher, added electricity AND added water usage - not interested. I can hand wash. I'm chief cook and bottle washer when we camp anyway! LOL!!

My only concern with a "solar package" installed at the factory, is what they actually put in. What's the gauge wire they use for the solar panels? (Heavier is better.) What kind of charge controller to they include? (MPPT is the best, but there are still some that are better than others.) How are wires connected? How =much= solar will the factory system handle? I'd get all that info from KZ before ordering a rig. I'd =try= and work through the dealer you're inclined to buy through, but if they can't, or won't, get that info for you from KZ in a timely manner, then 1) find another dealer and 2) call KZ directly and ask them and also tell them that the local dealer isn't being very helpful. (Personally, I've never understood why a dealer =wouldn't= be helpful as it's money in their pocket if they are.) I'd also do a lot of studying about solar to see what you're likely to actually need. Is 100w enough? 200w? 500w? Where to put them? Also, how and where can you mount panels on the roof and how many and how large? What about batteries? How many? Lead/acid, AGM, Lithium? Where do you mount them? Lots and lots of questions about installing solar on an RV.
There are any number of people here who have inside contact info at KZ so that you =should= be able to get all your questions answered.
