We own a 2019 DG 356RLT with around 12 trips on it so far. I recently noticed the the compression seals above the 2 aft slides have torn back around 3" from the leading edge. What would cause this already besides the really cheap, thin walled seals that KZ used?
I'm hoping that the dealer replaces them under warranty but am also open to replacing them myself with a slightly more stout seal.
Any here had to deal with this issue? Thanks, Rick

Have you treated them with anything? They make an RV seal conditioner/lubricant. Mine will stick when not treated, seem to recall some use talcum power, maybe some one else can confirm that.

I use talc. Look at the label before you buy, some baby powder is corn starch which is an organic matter and may cause mold or other issues, the other is talc with a bit of fragrance.

The talc doesn’t last very long so apply at a minimum of twice a year. The black streaks on the slide out sides may need more than just talc or at least do that frequently. If you run the slide out just enough to comfortably get you hand in a stepladder may work for you. Much of it can be done from the inside. I use an old sock, keep in mind that there is more to dust that just the wipers.

I hadn't tried the talc, but I'll start doing that from now on.
Can I use that on the slide side seals also, or is the conditioner/lubricant recommended instead? I have a bunch of 303 protectant already. All that said, do you think this is something that the dealer would cover under warranty?

I use the CRC spray and reapply when I see the black streaks.

I recently had to replace the top bulb seal on my kitchen slide. Someone (probably selling dealer) applied some gooey sealant that made it stick to the flange & tore it. I use spray silicone on my seals and sealing surfaces.

Just a note on the talc powder ... there have been lawsuits about women using this kind of product for "freshness" ... supposed to be a carcinogen. Just use a painters mask to avoid inhaling the powder dust.

relliott64 Make sure if they change the seal you test it, our dealer stated they replaced rear back seal on rear slide, 1st time it rained an we pulled in the slide we had a water fall inside the trailer .... Had to get Kz to change seal after a Kz rally, seal still leaked ... Told dealer that seal was still leaking, they said tilt the trailer so the water runs off before you close slide, I said would you please stand under the rear of the trailer when I close the today so see if water runs off ... Darn she wouldn't do it !!!!!
So if they replace the seal have them run water over the top of the slide a about 5 minutes an then close the slide to see if you still have the leak.... Don't let them tell you it's fixed, test it in front of service writer or better yet service manager !!!! Don't leave without testing it I can't say it enough !!!!!
Safe Travels
