Ok i am sure water heaters have been under bunks for years, but being new to this, is it ok to leave water heater on while sleeping in the bunk where it is located? I was considering shutting it down at night.

No need to shut it down at night. It is thermostatically controlled, so it will only heat when the water drops below the thermostat set point. And just so you know the high and low limits are factory pre-set, no way to change them without replacing the switch itself. Also the heater is completly self contained and sealed so no worries about gasses entering the coach.

Mine is under the bed as well, but I like the idea of being able to access it easily by just lifting the bed up.
