I just bought a Winegard Carryout automatic satellite finder. I've had it with the standard satellite dish trying to point and find a signal. Too many hours of frustration wasted on my camping trips. I set the new Carryout up in my backyard yesterday to test it out. It worked fine. No more wasted time for me.
My question is, in the manual it says it will not work through the jacks located on the outside of the camper. Coaxial needs to go directly from the satellite to the receiver as some of these jacks are for only cable tv.
I thought coaxial cable and jacks didn't differentiate between cable and satellite. I have satellite TV at home and my connections are through the cable jacks on the walls. We've had cable tv and satellite before and use the same jacks.
Can someone clear this up for me?

Our Montego Bay has two sets of jacks. One is cable and the other is satellite so there must be some reason you cannot use the cable jack or they would not have put a separate satellite jack in our RV.

I have two jacks as well. One is on the side under the awning and the other is on the back of the trailer. I didn't realize one is for cable and the other for satellite. Now to figure out which one is which. I guess I can call our dealer and find out or read the manual.
Thank you so much for the response.

I would guess the one on the back side would be cable because usually all the CG hookups are located in the same general area on the backside of the RV.

The problem with using the cable hook-up is that it goes directly to the booster which destroys the signal. Also the jack under the awning is coming off the back side of the booster, taking signal to the main tv and the outside. You'll probably have to run a seperate hook-up for the satellite.

indyhtnr,
You are correct. I just called the service dept. at my dealer and I do have to have a separate satellite jack. I'm having one installed Friday.
Thank you all for your input.

You are correct that the cable goes to the "over the air" antennae booster. I have a 2017 Durago Gold 5th wheel and I was told to connect the parks cable to my external cable input and turn off the power to the booster. Booster on sends "over the air signal" to the TV's, booster off sends "cable signal" to the TV's. Mine has a button on the booster box, which is an on/off switch.
