It was 103 yesterday. I have changed the heater registers to ones that close. My Durango is a front living. I found myself getting warm while up front. So I went and closed the bedroom vents, and turned set it at 75. It wasn’t but 30 minutes and it became comfortable again up front. Units never shut off, but I was going leases with the way it handled the hot temperature.

Front living rooms tend to be harder to cool because of physics (hot air rises and cool air sinks). That said, directing more cool air to your living room should help, as you did. Have you also blocked the furnace return air that allows cold air to escape into the basement. That helps as much or more as the closable floor vents (for the same reason). 75 on a 103 day is pretty good.

No I haven’t. I’ll have to find it. I think it’s in pantry so there is a door sorta blocking it.

Blocking the actual grate will help in AC season. Caution ... do not have this blocked when using the furnace.

The heat is on in Texas. 97 today ... able to keep the inside temp at 75. The AC’s ran all day long. I think this is very close to about all we can handle.

Humm record heat here temps 100+ for days, A/C goes on at 85 in the house. We are going to be near 100 for the next week. We normally set our bedroom AC at 75 and the Livingroom AC set at 76. We do it this way to try to get the BR AC to run more than the LR just because it’s quieter (we reverse the settings when we go to bed). In the morning, while it’s still relatively cool, I drop the thermostat settings 2 or 3 degrees to get the place cooled off and to get ahead of the heat ... seems to be working so far.
