I have a sticker on an outside wall In the bedroom stating the position of the TV backer. I searched high and low and have found many contradicting statements. Some saying it’s a metal plate other saying it’s a piece of plywood. I’m looking for someone who has mounted a television to give me some advice. Any advice at all would be helpful.

Use a strong magnet to detect the limits of the thin piece of sheet metal that is installed just under the thin wallboard. Use sheet metal screws to attach.

I used the plate and attached a piece of plywood painted black to the wall. Before screwing plywood to the wall I used liquid nails also. Then mounted the tv mount to it. My mount doesn't allow tv to be removed, so tv hangs on the wall all the time. I haven't had any problems or concerns with tv falling off the wall. Te tv covers te mount and plywood so it's not an eyesore.
