Good evening all. Today, as I tried to stay busy, I cleaned the trailer. As I was washing the lower front, I noticed many rock chips already in the finish. Our trailer has been towed about 5500 miles, including it's trip from Indiana to Texas. I have seen the hitch mounted flaps on other rigs, although never got to ask the question, what the owner thought. With the investment we made, the DW and I were discussing the merits of these. We were looking at the ones that bolt on to the receiver. Do any of you have them and is there a brand you prefer? As always any suggestions or recommendations are appreciated! Kirt

Kirt While it will likely be more expensive initially, you might consider putting aluminum diamond plate on the front of your FW. A permanent solution that also dresses up your rig and, IMO, adds value. Lyle

My son in law purchased one that looks like a broom. It seems to work well for his 1971 Airstream.
On the first trip, the exhaust on his vehicle was pointed at the device and the broom portion was melted by the heat of the exhaust. The broom sections are replaceable and after rerouting the exhaust to point out to the side of the vehicle and replacing the section there have been no further problems.

I ran the Enkay Rock Tamers for several years with my first RV. I choose the Rock Tamers because their mudflaps had weights in the bottom of them to prevent them from flapping in the wind. I don't think the ones they sell now are weighted. I see there are several manufactures so do your research and read the reviews. Overall I was very happy with the concept. They were fully adjustable, easy on, easy off and they kept the road debris off of the fifth wheel. For storage I hung them on the garage wall went not in use.

Well, as Facebook Marketplace came thru again. I found a Rock Tamer set up for $50 bucks. A little elbow grease and some Armor All and they look as good as new, so, when things get back to normal, we will give them a try, I'm sure they will help protect our trailer. With the couple hundred bucks I saved, hmm what do I need now?
Be safe Kirt
