I got a new cover to go over my crank-up cover on my bathroom exhaust for Christmas. My question is since it does not screw into the roof, do I need to put caulk around the outer edge?

It probably screws thru the existing vertical portion above roof level. link

If you're talking just about the lid, there should be some sort of seal on the base that goes against the lid. In my experience, the seals shrink, badly, over time, and you'll end up with a good gap, so make sure you put a new seal on with the gap to the hinge side. Other big problem, is that the seal will stick to the lid and simply pull off when you crank it open. Once again, more cheap junk the mfrs use to save a penny. Lyle

Lyle, what I got for Christmas is a cover that goes over the crank-up lid so you can leave it open during a rain, also hopefully, protects the crank-up lid from hail damage. You can look it up as they are made by or for Camco.
