I had my 2019 DG 356 rlt at the dealer recently to see about having 3ea slide toppers installed. The RV is equipped with the factory attach rails on the body at each slide but the dealer said because I have the slide awning on the passenger slide and because of the position of the fridge vent on the drivers slide it was not possible to install slide toppers. I did have them install a bedroom slide topper, because I hope it would cut down on the nose from the rain when trying to sleep (sounded like being inside an aluminum canopy in the rain!)
So, I'm looking around today, and I see this identical trailer on RV trader and it has toppers on all 3 slides. It looks like the topper is installed to the slide a little higher up than where the dealer was saying that they had to mount. Is this a different style of topper? I would really like to get them installed if possible. Seems strange that the factory would provision for the toppers if it wasn't possible to install them. Here is the link to the one on rv trader with the toppers. Thanks, Rick

I am guessing the RV in the sale ad has either Carefree or Lippert slide toppers, and maybe your dealer is used to installing A&E (Dometic) toppers. It could also be whoever installed the toppers on the for sale coach modified the mounting bracket to clear the refrigerator vent, and your dealer isn't comfortable doing that. Try printing one of the pictures from the ad and showing it to your dealer, if they see it has been done, they might be more open to trying.

Hi, and thanks for replying.
It was a Lippert that my dealer installed on the bedroom slide, so the one in the add must be different than that. I think I'll try contacting the dealer with the one for sale in the add and see if he can just let me know the topper brand that is installed. Doubt they will answer me, but you never know.. Rick

Are you going to the KZ Rally? If so, Lippert will be there and they will install them for you. I had one replaced two years ago at the Rally. It’s a very convenient time to get things done.

Indiana is a long ways from Washington state, so i don't see my self getting to rally any time soon. Retiring in another year or so, so after that, who knows?

The Lippert topper looks slightly different than the originals, but it’s only noticeable if I point it out. But to answer your question directly ... it has performed as advertised since it was installed ... nearly 2 years now. I like it fine and if I had another failure, I’d get Lippert to replace it.

Thanks, getting them installed by factory guys takes a lot of potential issues out of the equation, and I am pretty much done working on ladders.

Hi Bob, if you are not in a big hurry for the slide toppers, I will be sending out vendor info for the rally shortly. You can order the through LCI, and have them installed at the rally at a discounted rally price.

Speaking of Lippert ... I know they had a big FAIL with their “smart arm” awnings ... but now I see they are advertising them again. Is this an improved version, or just the same thing???

I had Tacoma RV re-install a LCI slide topper provided by KZ on are G384RLT with instructions from the factory ... They installed it on the metal black frame that was across the top of the slide an not on the slide side itself, has been holding up pretty well now for a year now ... Safe Travels Chuck

Thats what I was looking to have them do, but they said it wasn't possible. I will contact KZ though and see if they have a slide topper and instructions that will work.

Thats what I was looking to have them do, but they said it wasn't possible. I will contact KZ though and see if they have a slide topper and instructions that will work. This was on the drivers side Slide which has the kitchen an TV an fireplace ... Why they did such is because the slide topper pulled out of the slide, Kz pulled the slide topper off at the factory, filled the holes in the slide so I could come back to Washington State ... They did such since the DW didn't want to stay in Indiana another week while they fixed it there, thus Kz shipped the new slide topper an theater seating back to Tacoma RV to get installed ... Tacoma RV fixed the holes in the slide, repainted it an attached the slide topper as I said to the black metal strip across the top of the slide ...
BTW the slide its self is 15 an 1/2ft long an with the arms of the slide topper on each end slide I would say the topper say
15ft 10inches ...
Safe Travels
Chuck
